The incumbent works under the general direction of the Information Technology Manager II (ITM II), Chief of the Enterprise Portfolio Management Office (ePMO). The Information Technology Manager I (ITM I), Chief, Project Management Office (PMO), is one of three PMO managers within ePMO. The ITM I directs project managers in the planning, initiation, management, and governance for many of the Department's IT projects in support of program business goals and objectives. The ITM I ensures IT projects are properly planned, managed, executed, and controlled to provide the highest probability for project success. The PMO Chief is also responsible for ensuring that IT project expenditures are driven by, and responsive to, the compelling business needs of CDPH programs in achieving the mission of the Department. The ITM I is responsible for enterprise-wide IT project planning and oversight activities to include working closely with the ePMO Chief on IT Portfolio Planning, contract and vendor management, risk management, Project Approval Lifecycle (PAL) development, legislative bill analysis, budget change proposal (BCP) review and alignment with fiscal documents, formal IT project oversight, and control agency collaboration and reporting.
The PMO Chief provides oversight and project management direction for CDPH IT projects with high visibility and high impact on the health and well-being of the people of California. The PMO Chief is responsible in ensuring staff follows ePMO policies and procedures, and the State Contracting Manual (SCM) all contract activities. In addition, the PMO Chief must ensure the project teams adheres to the Statewide Information Management Manual (SIMM) Section 17 and SIMM Section 19. The PMO Chief has responsibility for working collaboratively with other PMO Managers and the ePMO Chief to promote continuous improvement of service delivery, standardization of policies and procedures and increasing CDPH project management maturity by determining and executing an enterprise-wide project management approach, methodology, strategy, and decision-making process.
The ITM I will perform duties within the Business Technology Management and Information Technology Project Management domains.

Working Conditions
Telework Information:
This position may be eligible for telework. The amount of telework permitted is at the discretion of the Department and is subject to change, consistent with CDPH's Telework Program. All employees who telework are required to be California residents in accordance with Government Code Candidates who reside outside of the state of California may be interviewed; however, the selected candidate must have a primary residency in the state of California prior to appointment (and continue to maintain California residency) as a condition of employment. Failure to meet this requirement may result in the job offer being rescinded.
Travel may be required for this position. Reimbursement for travel takes into consideration an employee's designated headquarters, as reflected in the duty statement, and is subject to regulations and bargaining unit contract provisions. All commute expenses to the designated headquarters office will be the responsibility of the selected candidate.
