DSP (Direct Support Professional)

Job Overview
We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Direct Support Professional to join our team. In this role, you will provide essential support to individuals with developmental disabilities, helping them achieve their personal goals and improve their quality of life. Your work will involve assisting with daily living activities, fostering independence, and promoting social engagement in a safe and nurturing environment.

Responsibilities

• Assist individuals with personal care tasks, including bathing, grooming, and dressing.
• Support clients in daily living activities such as meal preparation, cooking, and household chores.
• Facilitate social interactions and community involvement to enhance social skills and relationships.
• Implement individualized care plans tailored to each client's needs and preferences.
• Monitor clients' physical and emotional well-being, reporting any changes or concerns to appropriate personnel.
• Provide companionship and emotional support to clients, encouraging positive interactions.
• Assist with medication management as needed, ensuring adherence to prescribed regimens.
• Maintain a clean and safe environment for clients, adhering to health and safety guidelines.

Skills

• Experience in caregiving or patient care is highly desirable.
• Familiarity with working with individuals who have developmental disabilities is a plus.
• Knowledge of memory care techniques and dementia care practices is beneficial.
• Ability to perform CPR and basic first aid is preferred.
• Strong communication skills to effectively interact with clients, families, and team members.
• Cooking skills to prepare nutritious meals that meet dietary requirements.
• Patience, empathy, and a genuine desire to help others achieve their goals are essential traits for success in this role.
