Job Summary

Supports, monitors, tests and troubleshoots hardware and software problems pertaining to computer workstations (desktops and laptops) on the local area network (LAN). Recommends and schedules repairs, completes setup of equipment using an imaging utility. Provides technical assistance and minimal training to system users.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities & Knowledge Skills & Abilities
  • Installs, modifies and makes minor repairs to personal computer hardware and software systems.
  • Installs, and/or assists other service personnel in installation of hardware and peripheral components such as monitors, keyboards, printers and disk drives at users' work site.
  • Loads specified software packages such as operating systems, word processing or spreadsheet programs into computer.
  • Responds to client inquiries concerning system operations and diagnoses system hardware, software and operator problems.
  • Coordinates activities with Manager, full-time technicians or other Information Technology groups and updates work request tickets.
  • Helps deploy current software using an imaging utility.
  • Instructs users in the basic use of equipment, software and manuals.
  • Recommends or performs minor remedial actions to resolve problems.
  • Replaces defective or inadequate software.
  • Refers major hardware problems to service personnel for resolution.
  • Other duties as assigned as a job duty.

  • Experience with supporting personal computers with both hardware and software.

  • Experience with Windows operating system platforms to current version.
  • Must be very customer oriented.
  • Experience installing and configuring the standard Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access, Microsoft Outlook, etc.).
  • Ability to work closely with a user community of administrators, faculty, staff and students.
  • Good communication (written and verbal) and documentation skills.
  • Must be a team-oriented person and be able to work closely with team members.
  • Must have good work ethics.
  • Network support knowledge.
  • Experience with desktop management systems such as Microsoft Intune, SCCM, MECM, Apple JAMF and imaging solutions (RIS, WDS, SCCM, MECM).
  • Experience with Apple computer technologies.
  • Experience in a Higher Education Environment.
  • Browser and anti-virus support.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with a broad range of diverse people, ability, culture, ethnic background, to maintain good working relationships across the College.
  • Ability to work with all groups in a diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural and ethnic background of community college students, faculty and staff, including those with disabilities.
Minimum qualifications

High School Diploma or equivalent.
1 year related paid experience.
