Sushi Chef

Job Summary
We are seeking a skilled and passionate Sushi Chef to join our culinary team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in Japanese cuisine, particularly in sushi preparation, and will be responsible for creating high-quality sushi dishes that meet our restaurant's standards. This role requires attention to detail, creativity, and a commitment to food safety and handling practices.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and present a variety of sushi dishes according to traditional recipes and modern techniques.
• Ensure the highest quality of ingredients are used, maintaining freshness and flavor in all dishes.
• Work collaboratively with kitchen staff to ensure timely service during peak hours.
• Maintain cleanliness and organization of the sushi station, adhering to food safety regulations.
• Assist in menu planning and development, contributing creative ideas for new sushi offerings.
• Train and mentor junior kitchen staff on sushi preparation techniques and food handling practices.
• Monitor inventory levels of sushi ingredients and communicate needs to management for ordering supplies.

Qualifications

• Proven experience as a Sushi Chef or in a similar culinary role within a restaurant setting.
• Strong knife skills and proficiency in various cooking techniques related to sushi preparation.
• Knowledge of food handling regulations and dietary requirements is essential.
• Experience in catering or working within a dietary department is a plus.
• Culinary degree or relevant certification is preferred but not mandatory.
• Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment while maintaining high standards of quality.
• Excellent communication skills and the ability to work as part of a team.
