This is a highly collaborative role where you will lead Lean Six Sigma initiatives to reduce waste, improve cycle times, and enhance service delivery, with the opportunity to scale your impact across the entire organization.

Process Improvement Specialist
position based out of our Oklahoma City or Tulsa office. Hybrid work schedule, 3 days in office and 2 days remote. Competitive annual salary target of
$85-95k

The Role

The Process Improvement Specialist is responsible for identifying, analyzing, and optimizing operational processes that impact claim outcomes and loss costs in the workers' compensation insurance space. Initially focused on Claims and Loss Prevention, this role will lead Lean Six Sigma initiatives to reduce waste, improve cycle times, and enhance service delivery. Over time, the role is expected to scale across other operational areas, driving enterprise-wide efficiency and continuous improvement. This is a highly collaborative position that works closely with frontline teams, subject matter experts, and senior leadership to turn insights into sustainable process change.

Core Duties

You will work closely with frontline teams and senior leadership to turn insights into sustainable process change.

  • Process Mapping:
    Create accurate process maps (Visio), including swim lanes, for Claims and Loss Prevention workflows.
  • Improvement Leadership:
    Lead or support initiatives using Lean Six Sigma to conduct end-to-end process reviews and identify opportunities, gaps, and redundancies impacting loss containment.
  • Analysis & Design:
    Facilitate root cause analyses, stakeholder interviews, and define future-state designs.
  • Impact Quantification:
    Quantify the business impact (e.g., cycle time reduction, cost savings) of issues and proposed solutions and present findings to leadership.
  • Implementation & Automation:
    Collaborate with operational partners (Claims, Loss Prevention, IT) to pilot, implement, and document process changes. Partner to design, document, and measure automation opportunities in core systems.
  • Performance Management:
    Establish KPIs, develop dashboards/metrics, and track continuous improvement efforts.
  • Industry Expertise:
    Stay current on industry trends, best practices, and regulatory requirements in workers' compensation and claims operations, integrating these insights into improvement initiatives.
  • Culture & Scaling:
    Train staff in continuous improvement tools and embed a culture of operational excellence, partnering with cross-functional teams (e.g., Underwriting, Customer Experience) to scale efforts enterprise-wide.

Who We're Looking For

Ideal candidates are curious, structured, proactive, and able to simplify complex processes. They thrive in a fast-paced, collaborative, and cross-functional environment, bringing both independence in analysis and frequent interaction with stakeholders.

  • Experience:
    3–7 years in process improvement, operational analysis, or quality assurance (insurance or healthcare background preferred).
  • Certification:
    Lean Six Sigma Green Belt required
    (Black Belt preferred).
  • Technical Skills:
    Strong proficiency in
    Visio
    (required) and data analysis platforms (e.g., Excel, Power BI).
  • Key Traits:
    Proven experience leading or supporting complex cross-functional initiatives; strong facilitation, data analysis, and problem-solving skills; excellent written and verbal communication, able to present findings to all levels.
  • Preferred:
    Bachelor's degree in a related field, experience in workers' compensation insurance (Claims/Loss Prevention), or a background in change/project management.
