Medical Lab Scientist

Location: UCHealth Leprino Building AMC, US:CO:Aurora

Department: UCHA Lab Microbiology

FTE: Full Time, 1.0, 80.00 hours per pay period (2 weeks)

Shift: Days

Work Schedule:

• Full-time - 80 hours per pay period
• Day shift, between 7:00 AM and 3:30 PM
  Includes rotating weekends and holidays

Pay: $ $50.73 / hour. Pay is dependent on applicant's relevant experience

Summary: Performs laboratory testing of patient specimens in the Microbiology Department, AFB/Mycology section of the laboratory, including sample processing, AFB and Mycology culture reading and pathogen identification.

Responsibilities:

• Performs diagnostic/analytic testing of specimens. Interprets, documents and reports test results.
• Performs quality control testing, instrument maintenance and troubleshooting.
• Complies with good laboratory practice and regulatory requirements.
• Performs projects as assigned as well as serves as a resource to laboratory staff and other clinical staff as needed.
• Within scope of job, requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgement and the ability to work with minimal supervision. Must be able to work in a fast-paced environment and take appropriate action.

Requirements:

• Bachelor's degree and graduate of an accredited Medical Technologist or Medical Laboratory Scientist program.Certification as a Medical Technologist (MT) by the American Medical Technologists (AMT) or as a Medical Technologist (MT) or Medical Laboratory Scientist (MLS) by the American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP) or categorical ASCP certification in a laboratory specialty/sub-specialty as applicable to job responsibilities. State licensure if required by law. Certification must be obtained within 90 days of hire.
• Previous experience in Microbiology reading culture plates preferred.
