Physical Therapy Assistant

Orleans Community Health at Medina Hospital is looking for an experienced Physical Therapy Assistant to join our team in Medina, New York. If you are a caring individual who enjoys working in a fast-paced rehab setting then we'd love to talk with you

Shift and Status

Full time with opportunity to earn up to and extra $43/hr. for additional shift pick ups.

Position Summary

The Physical Therapy Assistant (PTA) is a skilled, technical worker who administers Physical Therapy treatments to patients working under direction of and as an assistant to a Physical Therapist. The PTA ensures that quality care is rendered to all patients in accordance with the New York State Practice Act, the Hospital, and Physical Therapy standards. The PTA will be able to work with various patient populations, such as geriatric and pediatric.

Essential Tasks Include

• Assists the Physical Therapist in obtaining subjective and objective patient data for evaluation and re-evaluation purposes.
• Administers treatment plan (group or individual) utilizing modalities, manual skills, therapeutic exercises, and/or functional activities/training as planned and prescribed by the Physical Therapist.
• Completes documentation and routine paperwork on appropriate forms within prescribed time frames.
• Assists with the overall efficiency of departmental operations.
• Educates patients, families, caregivers, peers, students, and community members according to specific needs.
• Participates in team communication in regards to patient care issues and hospital/departmental functions.
• Maintains surveillance of environmental conditions as related to safety and infection control
• Completes other and/or additional job related tasks as requested.

Requirements

• Successful completion of a 2 year APTA approved, college program for PTA which leads to an Associate's degree.
• The PTA must be eligible for State licensure or registration in New York State and in accordance with the Commissioners' regulations.

Orleans Community Health is comprised of Medina Memorial Hospital, (a designated Critical Access Hospital), Renal Dialysis Centers located in Medina and Batavia, NY, Primary and Walk-In Clinic in Albion, NY, a 30 bed Skilled Nursing Home, Outpatient and Ambulatory Services, and Community Partners Wellness Center. Salary Expectations for this role: Annually $60,000-$65,000
