Position Overview

The Project Manager will support and lead a variety of civil and agricultural construction projects from planning through completion. This role is ideal for someone early-to-mid career with hands-on field experience, project coordination background, and a basic engineering understanding. The Project Manager will collaborate with field crews, subcontractors, vendors, and clients to ensure safe, on-time, and on-budget project delivery. This person must bring strong leadership and excellent communication skills to effectively guide field teams and maintain productive relationships with stakeholders at all levels.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide strong leadership to field crews, subcontractors, and project partners to maintain alignment, accountability, and productivity.
  • Communicate clearly and professionally with clients, team members, vendors, and inspectors to ensure seamless coordination.
  • Assist in planning, scheduling, and managing commercial excavation, site prep, grading, and agricultural construction projects.
  • Coordinate daily activities with foremen and crews, ensuring work aligns with plans, specifications, and safety standards.
  • Support estimate preparation, scopes of work, and bid packages—including material takeoffs and subcontractor outreach.
  • Maintain organized project documentation: RFIs, submittals, change orders, daily logs, and progress records.
  • Monitor budgets, production rates, and schedules; provide regular project updates to leadership and clients.
  • Participate in preconstruction, design reviews, and constructability assessments.
  • Work with engineers, surveyors, and designers to resolve technical questions and support field layout as needed.
  • Conduct regular site visits to ensure safety, quality, and compliance standards are met.
  • Foster strong client and landowner relationships through timely communication and professional service.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, Agricultural Engineering, or related field (preferred but not required with equivalent experience).
  • 2–5 years of experience in civil construction, excavation, grading, agricultural construction, or related project types.
  • Demonstrated leadership abilities with experience guiding teams or supervising project activities.
  • Excellent communication skills—both verbal and written—with the ability to effectively coordinate with diverse groups.
  • Strong understanding of construction methods, equipment, engineering fundamentals, and field operations.
  • Ability to read and interpret site plans, grading drawings, drainage layouts, and technical documentation.
  • Proficiency with project management and construction software (MS Project, Bluebeam, Procore, or similar).
  • Strong organizational, problem-solving, and time-management skills.
  • Valid driver's license and willingness to travel to job sites across New York State.
  • Commitment to safety, quality, teamwork, and continuous improvement.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $80, $90,000.00 per year
