Job Summary
The Line Cook / Prep Cook is a dual-role position responsible for both the initial preparation of ingredients (mise en place ) and the fast, accurate execution of menu items during service hours. This role requires strong organizational skills, excellent knife handling, and the ability to thrive under the pressure of a busy kitchen line while maintaining strict food quality and safety standards.

I. Prep Cook Duties

  • Ingredient Preparation:
  • Execute the daily prep list, including washing, peeling, chopping, slicing, and measuring all food items (vegetables, proteins, sauces, etc.) to recipe specifications.
  • Prepare basic components like stocks, simple sauces, dressings, and batter mixes.
  • Ensure all prepared ingredients are correctly portioned, labeled, dated, and stored according to food safety guidelines (FIFO—First In, First Out).
  • Stocking and Organization:
  • Set up and maintain clean, organized, and stocked work stations (mise en place ) for the line before and during service.
  • Assist with receiving and putting away inventory, ensuring proper rotation and storage of all supplies.

II. Line Cook Duties
Cooking and Execution:

  • Work a designated station on the cooking line (Grill, Sauté, Fry, etc.) during service hours.
  • Accurately and efficiently prepare all menu items according to standard recipes and quality standards.
  • Manage multiple orders simultaneously, ensuring all components of a dish are completed and timed correctly for simultaneous delivery.
  • Monitor food quality, temperature, and presentation before dishes are sent to the customer.
  • Station Management:
  • Maintain a clean, sanitized, and organized work station at all times.
  • Communicate clearly and effectively with other line cooks, the Expo, and management to coordinate timing and relay any potential shortages.
  • Complete assigned closing duties for the station, including cleaning all equipment, breaking down stations, and proper storage of leftover ingredients.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: From $18.00 per hour

Expected hours: 38 – 40 per week
