We're seeking a hands-on Controller / Project Accounting Consultant to lead all aspects of accounting and financial operations for a dynamic, service-based organization. This is a critical leadership role for a highly skilled CPA who thrives in a fast-moving environment and enjoys building scalable processes and driving operational excellence.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee all corporate accounting operations including GL, AP/AR, billing, treasury, audit, and tax.
- Deliver accurate and timely monthly financial reporting packages (financials, MD&A, covenant calculations).
- Manage monthly close process and ensure accuracy of balance sheet reconciliations and journal entries.
- Maintain general ledger structure, chart of accounts, and internal controls.
- Supervise payroll, benefits, and transactional accounting processes.
- Partner with leadership on cash management, liquidity forecasting, and risk compliance.
- Lead process improvement initiatives focused on automation and scalability.
- Support tax compliance and coordinate annual financial audits.
- Mentor and develop accounting staff through coaching, training, and goal setting.
- Collaborate cross-functionally to ensure strategic alignment between operations and finance.
Qualifications
- CPA required.
- 10+ years of progressive accounting and finance experience, including leadership of accounting teams.
- Strong background in services-based environments (residential experience ideal).
- Experience with ServiceTitan and QuickBooks strongly preferred.
- Proven success implementing accounting processes and driving continuous improvement.
- Experience in multi-entity, multi-site operations.
- Prior public accounting or audit firm experience (regional or national) highly desirable.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
- Ability to work both strategically and tactically in a growing organization.
