No two days are the same when you work at Gentle Vet Animal Hospital. You'll work on the cutting edge of veterinary medicine and develop your skills in ways you never could at a traditional practice. We have a special focus on treating dogs, cats, small animals, avians, reptiles, wildlife, and many other exotic animals We see a large number of complicated medical cases. We also service a local wildlife sanctuary and zoo.

While previous experience or education in veterinary assisting is appreciated, we will happily train the right candidates from the ground up. You just need to bring the needed motivation and enthusiastic attitude

Working alongside a collaborative, detail oriented and quality-focused team, you will get to:

● Provide care such as feeding, walking to potty, and maintaining a clean/comfortable environment for healing

● Assist with education on vaccine recommendations, reviewing vaccination records and preparing vaccines to the vaccine protocol of Gentle Vet Animal Hospital

● Maintain and use medical equipment such as autoclaves, surgical instruments, X-rays, ultrasound, etc.

● Stocking throughout the clinic and assisting in inventory management

● Assist with educating the public about diseases that can be spread from animals to humans

● Providing appropriate handling techniques for diagnostics, venipunctures and various treatments

● Set up and maintenance of the surgical department

● Maintain a safe hospital with proper disinfection and cleaning

● Move at a rapid and efficient pace to maintain timely appointments and provide good customer service

● Provide compassionate animal care during recovery of anesthesia

● Educate clients in a compassionate and clear manner

● Follow instructions to complete tasks independently

● Working with all team members to accommodate clients and patients needs, even in an emergency situation (performing CPR, based off current RECOVER guidelines)

Qualifications

● High school graduate or GED

● Physical ability to lift 50 lb

● Able to use a computer and complete administrative tasks

● Willingness to collaborate and learn
