Description Gonzalez Companies is a partner managed firm that provides comprehensive Planning, Design, and Construction Management Services to large and small Water, Sewer and Utility Districts; Departments of Transportation; and municipalities. We are currently seeking a Project Engineer (I/II) - Site/Civil to help serve our connection of clients and community. The projected range of compensation in Illinois for this job is $70,000 - $80,000.
Your Primary Responsibilities will include
- Assist in planning, designing, and executing civil/site projects for municipal, commercial, and industrial clients.
- Prepare detailed construction drawings, specifications, and technical documentation using AutoCAD Civil 3D or similar software.
- Perform grading, drainage, utility, and earthwork calculations, ensuring compliance with codes and standards.
- Conduct site visits and inspections to evaluate field conditions and verify construction aligns with design intent.
- Support project management efforts by tracking schedules, budgets, and project deliverables.
- Collaborate effectively with clients, contractors, and internal teams to identify solutions to design or construction challenges.
What you'll need
- Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or a related field.
- Engineer-in-Training (EIT) certification required; PE licensure preferred for Level II.
- 0–3 years of experience for Level I; 3–6 years for Level II in civil/site engineering projects.
- Proficiency in AutoCAD Civil 3D or similar CAD software.
- Knowledge of grading, stormwater management, utility design, and construction standards.
- Strong written and verbal communication, problem-solving, and teamwork skills.
- Ability to perform site visits and travel to project locations as needed.
