Job Summary
Ensure the Resort grounds, interior & exterior containers and recreational grass areas are kept attractive, well groomed, safe and interesting for guests and employees. Oversee the planning, design, installation, and maintenance of outdoor spaces, managing staff, budgets, and client relations. Manage the Beehive Programming Experience and Farm Operations.
Essential Functions And Responsibilities
- Regular and Reliable Attendance is an essential function of this role.
- Manages landscape and grounds maintenance, projects, and programs for all Tides Inn properties.
- Organize and execute planting of all annual beds and containers, and additions to perennial beds when needed.
- Supervise removal of weeds from grounds, cut grass and trim shrubs.
- Keep flower beds and containers weed free and deadheaded.
- Irrigation and fertilization of all flowerbeds and containers.
- Address any horticultural infestations in a timely manner.
- Conduct guest tours to educate concerning our horticulture.
- Supervise removal of all trash from grounds, landscaping areas and parking lots on a daily basis.
- Supervises irrigation checks and repairs.
- Supervises maintenance of tennis courts, pond, beach area and par 3.
- Assure beach fire from previous night is extinguished and new fire rebuilt for next event.
- Supervise the maintenance of all ground equipment to ensure equipment is clean and in good working order.
- Conduct hive inspections and execute the beehive program experience.
- Collaborate with Activities on program schedules.
- Look for and report any safety hazards.
- Organize and coordinate seasonal displays.
- Develop and initiate horticultural and construction projects
- Work to promote high standards in construction, turf management, irrigation, container management, high profile areas (i.e. Clubhouse surrounds & Pavilion) and other specialized horticultural tasks such as planting, pruning, fertilizing, etc.
- Select climatically compatible plant materials to further enhance the property
- Promote a healthy and safe working environment
- Encourage and develop a team spirit among department staff
- Interact with the Resort's horticultural consultant and initiates resulting developments
- Manage budget for department including labor and expenses
- Process payroll for staff
- Other duties as assigned
- May carry out other tasks as assigned.

Qualifications
Provide a list of the qualifications that are necessary for someone to fill this position:
- Possess advanced knowledge of landscape design, including plants, flowers, shrubs, lawns, and pesticides.
- Proficiency in plant biology, horticulture, and the care and maintenance of vatious plant species.
- Knowledge in soil management and pest control
- Knowledge of irrigation systems and methods and equipment operation.
- Knowledge in sustainability and safety regulations.
- Ability to supervise and crew and delegate work.
- Ability to operate pickup truck and utility carts.
- Ability to operate a lawnmower, weed trimmer, shovel, and other hand tools.
- To clearly understand product labels, written plans and verbal instructions.
- Ability to interact with guests in a friendly, unobtrusive and informative manner.
- Ability to work with other department employees as part of a team.
- Possession of a valid drivers license.
