About This Role: The Embedded Technical Support Specialist supports Walmart's national fire and life safety program as an onsite Edwards/Kidde Commercial technical resource at the Walmart Home Office. This role provides front-line technical support, assists subcontractors and Walmart teams with installation and service questions, supports remote programming and configuration reviews, ensures accurate CMS (Mastermind) alarm point data, and helps facilitate POC testing and technology trials in the Walmart Technology Lab. This position enhances speed, consistency, and clarity in Walmart's fire alarm operations across all facilities.
Key Responsibilities:
- Performs on-site field service directly to customers regarding installing, updating, operating, maintaining, repairing and removing of equipment to meet customer requirements.
- Installs, tests, services and repairs complex equipment to conform with company operating specifications and customer requirements.
- Performs on-site preventative maintenance, routine repair, and calibration after installation.
- Conducts and/or oversees equipment inspection and repair activities on a regular basis to ensure proper functioning.
- Conducts and/or oversees the maintenance and analysis of equipment logs to determine equipment repair needs and required repair methods.
- May require 60% Travel.
- High School Diploma or Equivalent.
- 3+ years of experience working with commercial fire alarm control panels and detection products.
- 1+ year of experience with Digital Multi-meter (DMM).
- 2yr associates or higher degree.
- NICET Fire Alarm Systems (Level 2 or higher)
- Strong Interpersonal skills.
- Experience working in the warehousing or industrial vertical market.
- Experience installing cellular or radio communicators.
- Experience with the following Edwards products: Fireworks, Hyperspike, Modulaser.
- Experience reading/editing installation or design drawings.
- Must be able to be on your feet for long periods of time.
- Must be able to walk long distances.
- 5+ years of field service experience.
- HS Diploma or GED.
- Experience working with commercial fire alarm control panels and detection products.
- Experience programming or troubleshooting EST4, IO/VS, Edge, or Evolve fire alarm control panels.
- Experience with FireWorks Graphical Incident Management systems (stand-alone or network versions).
- Experience with MN-COM1S RS232 to Ethernet Interface Module.
- Experience with MN-FNS Series Ethernet Switches.
- Experience with VESDA and ModuLaser aspirating smoke detection systems.
- Must be able to work independently as well as in a team environment.
- Must be able to clearly speak and write English.
- Must have ability to work with limited supervision and generate results with limited instructions.
- Understanding of Ohms Law.
- Strong deductive reasoning skills.
- Familiarity of Windows Operating Systems.
- Familiarity with Fire Alarm Audio and Paging functionality
