Position Description:

The IT Systems Developer & Administrator is a hybrid technical role responsible for maintaining the company's hardware and network infrastructure while also designing, developing, and optimizing business systems—primarily within Salesforce. This role ensures the reliability and security of core IT operations while building automation, integrations, and tools that streamline workflows across the organization. The ideal candidate combines hands-on IT administration skills with strong system-design and development capabilities.

Equipment Assets is a mid-size company with 20-30 office staff, and production staff, with (5) facilities in the Metro Detroit area. One site is our 'hub', the other sites are satellites with minimal IT infrastructure.

Essential Position Responsibilities:

Salesforce Development & Process Automation (Primary Focus)

· Design, develop, and maintain Salesforce functionality including Flows, Apex, custom objects, page layouts, validation rules, and automations.

· Create scalable business processes that support operations, logistics, finance, and customer service teams.

· Build integrations between Salesforce and external platforms (e.g., email systems, ERP, VoIP, camera systems, dashboards).

· Develop custom reports, dashboards, and data models to improve visibility and decision-making.

· Lead requirements gathering sessions with stakeholders to translate business needs into elegant technical solutions.

· Ensure data integrity and enforce governance, security, and best practices within Salesforce.

IT Systems Administration & Infrastructure Support

· Administer and maintain company networks, firewalls, switches, Wi-Fi, VPN, and server infrastructure.

· Manage and support Microsoft 365, Entra ID/Azure AD, Teams/Zoom Phone, and other SaaS applications.

· Oversee endpoint devices including desktops, laptops, printers, mobile devices, and security camera systems.

· Perform system backups, patch management, monitoring, and disaster-recovery readiness.

· Maintain IT documentation, asset tracking, and equipment lifecycle processes.

· Provide Tier 2/3 technical support and troubleshoot escalated issues across multiple locations.

Automation, Scripting & Integration Development

· Build scripts, tools, and automations (Python, PowerShell, RPA tools, etc.) to eliminate manual tasks.

· Develop internal applications or utilities that enhance productivity and data accuracy.

· Optimize workflows across teams by identifying bottlenecks and creating automated solutions.

Security & Compliance

· Implement and enforce IT security controls including MFA, conditional access, endpoint protection, and user access policies.

· Monitor systems for vulnerabilities, suspicious activity, and compliance with company standards.

· Conduct periodic audits of permissions, logs, and system configurations.

Cross-Department Collaboration

· Partner with leadership and department heads to understand operational challenges and build technology-driven solutions.

· Communicate complex technical concepts in a clear, business-friendly way.

· Train users and create documentation for new tools, processes, and system enhancements.

Qualifications:

Required

  • 3–7 years of combined experience in systems administration and software/application development.
  • Strong Salesforce administration and development experience (Flows required; Apex highly preferred).
  • Proficiency with Microsoft 365, Windows environments, and standard IT infrastructure.
  • Solid understanding of networking fundamentals (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VPN).
  • Experience building automations, integrations, or custom applications.
  • Strong analytical, documentation, and process-design skills.

Preferred

  • Salesforce certifications (Admin, Platform App Builder, or Platform Developer).
  • Experience with APIs, webhooks, and integration platforms (Mulesoft, Boomi, Zapier, etc.).
  • Experience in logistics, manufacturing, or multi-location business operations.
  • Familiarity with PowerShell, Python, SQL, or similar scripting/programming languages.
  • Exposure to security frameworks and compliance standards.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $75, $100,000.00 per year
