At Lighthouse Vision, we are a busy optometry practice seeking to immediately hire a full-time Optical Sales Associate. Previous optical experience is preferred, but we will consider those with other sales or medical backgrounds as well. We are willing to train the right candidate with no previous optical experience.

In this role you work one on one with patients to assist them in choosing the correct pair of glasses. Whether it is their everyday pair, or a pair used and designed for a specific hobby. While working on frame selection you learn how to ensure that they are able to get a pair of glasses that fits their face properly, and works with their eyeglass prescription. You learn about different types of lenses, and the various factors that go into play for a patient to receive a successful pair of glasses.

You strive to not only fit the patient with a pair of glasses that works with their specific needs, but you strive to also help find a pair of glasses that your patient is going to love wearing and feel confident in. Which can be very fun and rewarding, as everyone has a unique personality and fashion sense.

You must be able to work with patients of all ages, as sometimes you will be assisting young children with their first pair of glasses. You get to help children when they pick up their glasses as well, which can be extremely rewarding. As you get to see their reaction to having clear vision.

Responsibilities of Optical Sales Associate:

Sales Associates personally assist customers by giving prompt, courteous and professional service. They analyze a patient's eyeglass prescription and consider vital information that would affect a patient's frame and lens selection. They also strive to find a pair of eyeglasses that not only fit the patient comfortably but fit the patient's unique personality and fashion sense.

Associates are responsible for entering all optical orders with the utmost accuracy, paying meticulous attention to pricing and product specifications to prevent errors. They thoroughly inspect all incoming optical orders for quality and accuracy before dispensing to patients. They also notify patients of their order's arrival, and follow-up after dispensing glasses with a phone call to check on patient satisfaction.

During down-time associates also regularly clean and organize frame boards to maintain an appealing and professional display. They rotate stock to ensure a fresh and varied selection of frames and lenses, and maintain accurate inventory records for all optical products, facilitating efficient ordering and stock control.

Optical Sales Associates are also cross-trained with our Front Desk Coordinators, in order to assist with answering phones, booking appointments, and checking in and out patients. They must be reliable, able to handle large payments, and comply with all HIPAA guidelines. Optical sales handles any phone inquiries regarding current eyeglass orders.

We are looking for someone who enjoys sales, science, and fashion. In this position you must be able to strike up conversations first with patients about their vision needs. For this position you must possess strong communication skills and be able to communicate with patients in a friendly, efficient, and compassionate manner.

This position requires an individual who functions well as a member of a team, and likes to give and receive feedback. In this role you would be working and training with a licensed optician. Our ideal candidate would enjoy sales, science, and fashion. They would have an outgoing personality and be ready to learn. Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Previous Optometry/Ophthalmology/Medical Office Experience Preferred
  • Retail Sales Experience Required

Pay: $ $25.00 per hour, based on experience.
