Work Schedule: Ally designates roles as (1) fully on-site, (2) hybrid, or (3) fully remote. The OpportunityWe are seeking a proven and visionary Principal to join our Enterprise Data Governance and Management (EDGM) team. The ideal candidate will play a pivotal role in advancing our data governance tooling and automation, increasing transparency through enterprise data risk metrics and reporting, and turning data governance insights into actionable strategies. This role requires a strategic, technical thinker with a strong background in data governance, analytics, reporting, and automation, along with proven leadership qualities and the ability to drive organizational impact.

The Work ItselfAdvance Data Governance Tooling and Automation:
- Lead and oversee initiatives to upgrade existing data governance tooling, focusing on improving user experience, automation capabilities, integration opportunities, and risk management
- Navigate and build relationships with IT and data teams to design and deploy new data governance tools and solutions that reduce manual overhead and support scalable self-service capabilities for the enterprise
- Apply experience with emerging technologies, including AI and machine learning, to find opportunities for enhancing data governance maturity
- Develop and present cases and pilot projects to test new solutions and technologies within our framework and across our team members
Increase Transparency Through Reporting and Metrics:
- Develop and design intuitive dashboards, scorecards, and metrics aligned with leadership expectations to provide insights and flag watch areas related to data governance policy adherence, data risk management, data management value streams, and data governance tooling adoption
- Partner with Technology team members to design and implement back-end reporting database solutions to leverage for reporting, dashboards, and calculating metrics
- Design reporting systems that test and validate adherence with data governance policies and standards using automation, providing input into gaps that should be raised as data defects
- Establish mechanism to refresh reporting on a routine basis, including re-performing quality assurance testing to validate Ally function results, to ensure Ally leadership has regular insight into data governance transformation progress
Turn Data Governance Insights Into Actions:
- Perform data lineage analysis to identify inefficiencies in data pipelines and collaborate with data engineering teams to optimize these manual processes and pipelines for efficiency and reliability in critical business processes
- Lead strategies to enable Ally functions to curate and deliver business-friendly metadata to users, ensuring consistent usage and trust in key data assets
- Analyze data quality insights to identify improvement opportunities, prioritize remediation efforts, and understand business impact of data errors
The Skills You Bring
- 5+ years of experience in supporting data governance implementation (including proficiency in at least one data governance tool like Alation, Collibra, Ab Initio, Ataccama, Manta, Informatica, etc.)
- 5+ years of experience in leading analytics and automation initiatives (including proficiency in at least one programming tool like Python, SQL, MS Power Apps, R, etc.)
- 2+ years of experience in developing impactful, user-friendly dashboards, reporting and metrics (including proficiency in at least one data visualization tool like PowerBI, Tableau, etc.)
- 5+ years of experience implementing data governance frameworks, policies, and standards, with the ability to translate these into practical applications (including proficiency in data quality, metadata, and data lineage)
- Bachelor's degree in Data Science, Information Systems, Business Administration, Computer Science, Mathematics, a related field, or equivalent experience
- Experience with AI and innovative technologies, ideally in advancing data management initiatives
- Superb communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to lead cross-functional projects
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with a focus on continuous improvement and innovation
