Position Overview
The 2nd Grade Elementary Teacher is responsible for creating a positive, engaging, and developmentally appropriate learning environment that supports the academic, social, and emotional growth of all students. This educator provides standards-based instruction, fosters strong relationships, and collaborates with colleagues, families, and support staff to ensure each child's success.
Key ResponsibilitiesInstruction & Curriculum
- Develop and deliver high-quality lessons aligned to state standards and district curriculum.
- Teach core subjects including literacy, mathematics, science, and social studies using age-appropriate, evidence-based strategies.
- Differentiate instruction to meet diverse learning needs, including students requiring intervention, enrichment, or special accommodations.
- Integrate technology, hands-on activities, and real-world learning experiences into daily instruction.
- Assess student progress regularly using formative and summative measures.
- Establish and maintain a safe, respectful, and supportive classroom environment.
- Use proactive behavior strategies that promote responsibility, independence, and positive social skills.
- Provide timely feedback, reinforcement, and redirection to support student growth.
- Foster an inclusive environment where all students feel valued and capable.
- Maintain open, professional communication with students, parents, colleagues, and administrators.
- Participate in grade-level team meetings, PLCs, MTSS processes, and professional development.
- Collaborate with interventionists, special education staff, counselors, and other support personnel to meet student needs.
- Communicate regularly with families regarding student progress, classroom activities, and school events.
- Utilize data to inform instruction and guide student goal-setting.
- Maintain accurate records of attendance, grades, assessments, and parent communication.
- Uphold school and district policies, procedures, and professional ethics.
- Participate in school-wide initiatives, committees, and events as needed.
- Bachelor's degree in Elementary Education or related field.
- Valid state teaching license with appropriate elementary endorsement.
- Knowledge of child development and instructional best practices.
- Strong communication, organization, and classroom management skills.
- Ability to collaborate in a positive, team-oriented environment.
- Experience teaching primary grades.
- Training or experience with MTSS, PBIS, or similar support systems.
- Familiarity with literacy and math intervention strategies.
- Proficiency with educational technology platforms and tools.
