Job Summary
We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Nurse Practitioner to join our healthcare team. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in diverse clinical settings, including acute care, primary care, geriatrics and pediatrics. The Nurse Practitioner will provide comprehensive patient assessments, develop treatment plans, perform procedures such as suturing and IV infusions, and utilize advanced EMR/EHR systems like Epic, Cerner, and eClinicalWorks. This role requires a strong understanding of medical documentation, coding (ICD-10, CPT), and compliance with HIPAA regulations. The successful candidate will be adept at working in fast-paced environments and has strong team work skills as they will be working in an integrated medical practice with diverse health care practitioners. Pain management skills are important.
Responsibilities
- Conduct thorough physical examinations and patient assessments across various specialties including pediatrics, geriatrics, emergency medicine, and behavioral health.
- Manage acute pain and chronic conditions through medication administration, IV infusions, and procedural interventions such as suturing and catheterization.
- Perform diagnostic evaluations utilizing laboratory testing, medical imaging, sonography, and specimen collection/processing.
- Develop individualized treatment plans incorporating pharmacologic therapies like botulinum toxin treatments and dermal fillers; provide esthetic laser treatments when applicable. Knowledge of regenerative medicine is a plus.
- Document all patient interactions accurately within EMR/EHR systems including Epic, Cerner, or Athenahealth while adhering to HIPAA standards.
- Coordinate care with specialists in hospice & palliative medicine, infectious disease care, occupational health, and post-acute care settings.
- Participate in telehealth consultations utilizing telemedicine platforms to extend access to care.
- Manage complex cases involving trauma or patients with developmental disabilities or memory care needs.
- Educate patients on health coaching topics including nutrition, family planning, discharge planning, and disease prevention strategies.
- Engage in continuous professional development through training on new procedures.
Experience
- Proven clinical experience preferred.
- Experience with diverse patient populations including pediatrics, geriatrics, and individuals with disabilities or developmental disorders.
- Proficiency in using EMR/EHR systems; familiarity with medical coding (ICD-10/ICD-9/CPT) is essential.
- Skilled in performing procedures including suturing, phlebotomy, venipuncture, catheterization (urinary or vascular), gastric lavage, tube feeding management, sterile processing techniques, and DME handling.
- Knowledge of infection control protocols and aseptic techniques; experience with infection control measures is highly valued.
- Ability to work independently in outpatient clinics or inpatient settings with a focus on acute care or post-acute transitions.
- Strong understanding of physiology and anatomy to support diagnostic evaluation and treatment planning across multiple specialties such as cardiology (cardiac catheterization), ophthalmology (ophthalmology procedures), and pulmonology (ventilator management). Pay: $50.00 per hour
