Position: Diesel Mechanic

Pay Range: $55,000 to $65,000 Annually

Job Overview:

We are seeking a skilled and experienced Diesel Mechanic to join our team of dedicated professionals. The Diesel Mechanic will be responsible for diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining a variety of diesel-powered vehicles and equipment, ensuring their safe and efficient
operation. The ideal candidate should possess strong technical expertise, attention to detail, and a commitment to delivering high-quality workmanship.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Perform diagnostic tests on diesel engines, identifying issues through computerized diagnostic equipment, visual inspections, and other methods.
  2. Conduct routine maintenance tasks such as oil changes, filter replacements, and fluid checks to ensure optimal engine performance and longevity.
  3. Repair or replace defective parts, components, or systems, including but not limited to engines, transmissions, brakes, steering, and electrical systems.
  4. Troubleshoot and resolve mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic problems using appropriate tools and techniques.
  5. Keep accurate records of all repairs, services, and maintenance performed, utilizing computer-based systems as required.
  6. Collaborate with team members and communicate effectively with supervisors, providing updates on work progress and any potential issues.
  7. Adhere to safety protocols and guidelines, ensuring a safe working environment for oneself and colleagues.
  8. Stay up-to-date with advancements in diesel engine technology, attending training sessions and workshops as necessary.
  9. Ensure proper disposal of hazardous materials in accordance with environmental regulations.
  10. Maintain a clean and organized work area, both in the shop and on job sites.

Qualifications:

  1. High school diploma or equivalent; completion of a formal diesel mechanic training program is preferred.
  2. Proven experience as a Diesel Mechanic, with a strong understanding of diesel engine systems and components.
  3. Proficiency in using diagnostic tools, computerized systems, and hand tools commonly used in diesel engine repair.
  4. Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to analyze complex technical issues.
  5. Excellent attention to detail and a commitment to delivering high-quality workmanship.
  6. Physical strength and stamina to handle heavy tools and equipment, and to work in various weather conditions.
  7. Effective communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively within a team.
  8. Valid driver's license and a clean driving record.
  9. Certification by the National Institute for Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) in Diesel Engine Repair (preferred).
  10. Prior experience with specific diesel engine brands or equipment types may be advantageous.
