Job Overview:
We are seeking a skilled and experienced Diesel Mechanic to join our team of dedicated professionals. The Diesel Mechanic will be responsible for diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining a variety of diesel-powered vehicles and equipment, ensuring their safe and efficient
operation. The ideal candidate should possess strong technical expertise, attention to detail, and a commitment to delivering high-quality workmanship.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform diagnostic tests on diesel engines, identifying issues through computerized diagnostic equipment, visual inspections, and other methods.
- Conduct routine maintenance tasks such as oil changes, filter replacements, and fluid checks to ensure optimal engine performance and longevity.
- Repair or replace defective parts, components, or systems, including but not limited to engines, transmissions, brakes, steering, and electrical systems.
- Troubleshoot and resolve mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic problems using appropriate tools and techniques.
- Keep accurate records of all repairs, services, and maintenance performed, utilizing computer-based systems as required.
- Collaborate with team members and communicate effectively with supervisors, providing updates on work progress and any potential issues.
- Adhere to safety protocols and guidelines, ensuring a safe working environment for oneself and colleagues.
- Stay up-to-date with advancements in diesel engine technology, attending training sessions and workshops as necessary.
- Ensure proper disposal of hazardous materials in accordance with environmental regulations.
- Maintain a clean and organized work area, both in the shop and on job sites.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent; completion of a formal diesel mechanic training program is preferred.
- Proven experience as a Diesel Mechanic, with a strong understanding of diesel engine systems and components.
- Proficiency in using diagnostic tools, computerized systems, and hand tools commonly used in diesel engine repair.
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to analyze complex technical issues.
- Excellent attention to detail and a commitment to delivering high-quality workmanship.
- Physical strength and stamina to handle heavy tools and equipment, and to work in various weather conditions.
- Effective communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively within a team.
- Valid driver's license and a clean driving record.
- Certification by the National Institute for Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) in Diesel Engine Repair (preferred).
- Prior experience with specific diesel engine brands or equipment types may be advantageous.
