BASIS San Antonio is seeking an EB Coordinator to join our bright, passionate team

The EB Coordinator/EB Teacher will provide targeted language instruction and academic support to English Learners while ensuring compliance with state and federal requirements. This role dedicates most of time to direct services for EB students. At times, this position will also be overseeing administrative responsibilities, including Language Proficiency Assessment Committee (LPAC) meetings and state testing processes.

Key Responsibilities:

EB Services and Instruction

  1. Small Group Interventions

  2. Provide differentiated small group instruction to EB students focusing on language development and academic support.

  3. Develop targeted lesson plans based on students' language proficiency levels and academic needs.

  4. Language Instruction

  5. Implement language development strategies using research-based programs aligned with EB students' proficiency levels.

  6. Focus on improving listening, speaking, reading, and writing skills in English.

  7. Push-in Support in Core Classrooms

  8. Collaborate with core content teachers to integrate language support into daily lessons.

  9. Provide in-class support during instruction to scaffold learning for EB students.
  10. Co-plan with general education teachers to ensure language and academic objectives are met.

  11. Progress Monitoring and Assessment

  12. Track and document student progress using formative and summative assessments.

  13. Adjust instructional strategies based on ongoing data analysis and student outcomes.
  14. Communicate student progress with teachers and families, ensuring transparency and collaboration.

LPAC and State Testing Oversight

  1. LPAC Meetings

  2. Conduct LPAC meetings to determine appropriate placement and accommodations for EB students.

  3. Ensure compliance with federal, state, and district regulations regarding EB identification, monitoring, and exit procedures.

  4. State Testing Coordination

  5. Oversee the administration of Texas state assessments for EB students, ensuring proper accommodations are in place.

  6. Collaborate with testing coordinators and teachers to manage logistics and compliance for state testing.
  7. Provide training and support to staff on testing accommodations and procedures.

Qualifications:

  • Must have valid Texas teaching certificate with ESL Supplemental certificate.
  • Proven experience in providing language instruction to EB students.
  • Knowledge of LPAC procedures and state testing requirements for EB students.
  • Strong collaboration and communication skills.

Desired Skills:

  • Experience with small group instruction and push-in models of support.
  • Ability to analyze data and make instructional decisions based on student needs.
  • Knowledge of second language acquisition theories and best practices in EB instruction.
