Bakery Steward

Under general supervision, performs a variety of duties including stocking, packaging, organizing, and cleaning in the Bakery. Answers customer questions regarding baked goods, and orders. • Prepare bakery items quickly and consistently from established recipes including muffins, cookies, pies, cakes, biscuits and other pastries etc.
• Ability to measure and weigh various ingredients for recipe preparation
• Knowledge of leavening agents such as yeast, baking powder, baking soda, etc.
• Decorate and display finished baked products
• Knowledge and experience working with kitchen equipment such as mixers, blenders, heat sources, etc.
• Consistently use and maintain equipment to ensure proper functioning
• Understands ingredient list as it pertains to specialty diets, and answer customer questions regarding bakery and pastry ingredients
• Package and stock a variety of baked goods, ensuring bakery display case is full, and baked goods are fresh; remove items that have become stale
• Clean and maintain work areas, utensils and equipment, on an ongoing basis

The employee must have the ability to: speak and hear, sit, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, and reach with their hands and arms. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus. The employee must have the ability to stand for prolonged periods where wet processes are used, wear protective footwear, and work in extreme temperatures. The employee will be exposed to electrical, pneumatic, hydraulic and other power equipment. The employee must have the ability to frequently lift and move up to 50.

Minimum of one year bakery experience - required
