POSITION DESCRIPTION:

Primary responsibilities include: Supporting Team Up Collaborative work in Montezuma and Dolores Counties: coordinating and facilitating meetings; facilitating action planning; managing grants that support the initiatives; developing and implementing action plans, evaluation plans and data gathering; and assisting with community relations related to Team Up's work.

In order for Team Up's Community Collaboration Program to achieve its ambitious mission, a dynamic and detail-oriented coordinator is required. The Community Collaboration Coordinator will be part of a small team responsible for driving Team Up's Community Collaboration work forward in both Montezuma and Dolores Counties, in particular supporting day-to-day communications, administration, community engagement, and data functions.

INTRODUCTION TO Team Up and the Community Collaboration Program:

Team Up unites and supports local organizations and individuals in addressing community-identified needs to help people thrive in Southwest Colorado. Team Up serves 5 counties in the southwest region through community service, community support, and community collaboration.

Team Up's Community Collaboration Program brings together individuals and organizations across the southwest region to address deeply seeded issues and emerging opportunities through a data driven and informed Collective Impact framework. Over 60 entities across Southwest Colorado have stepped up to work together to create a thriving community for children, youth, and families. Team Up partners participate in Action Teams, meeting on a regular basis to collaborate on specific topic areas that have been identified and are driven by the community. Additionally, each county has a Steering Committee that helps steer the overall direction of Team Up's collaborative work.

Team Up is the backbone (a team dedicated to aligning & coordinating the work of the group) for this Collective Impact Initiative to support these collaborative efforts. Backbone efforts include but are not limited to:

  • Cultivate community engagement and ownership
  • Inclusively and authentically engage. Ask "who isn't here?" Seek and include missing voices.
  • Promote collective ownership through member agency and decision making
  • Mobilizing resources
  • Fundraising and grant proposal writing
  • Recruit and include key stakeholders
  • Coordination
  • Schedule meetings, prepare agendas, send reminders, encourage accountability, facilitate meetings
  • Support aligned partner activities
  • Build relationships among members
  • Guiding vision and strategy
  • Create focus around collaborative priorities and goals
  • Action and strategic planning (and keeping teams on track)
  • Measurement
  • Establish shared measurement toward goals
  • Data collection and management

Through these continuous backbone efforts, Action Teams are able to consistently meet and move projects forward in a constructive way. Action Team members are the drivers of strategy, action, and decisions that will ultimately impact the wellbeing of the population in which they are aiming to serve.

PRIMARY JOB RESPONSIBILITIES/DUTIES

Facilitate and Coordinate Montezuma and Dolores County Teams

  • Facilitate and coordinate all steering committee, action team, and subcommittee meetings and activities. Current teams include:
  • Montezuma County Steering Committee
  • Safe Spaces Action Team (Montezuma County)
  • Child Maltreatment Prevention Action Team (Montezuma County)
  • Parent Education & Engagement (Montezuma County)
  • Dolores County Steering Committee
  • Coordinate steering committee, subcommittees, and action teams as needed to develop, implement, and evaluate action plans and identified project objectives while ensuring all members are kept informed and are effectively engaged
  • Take the lead on planning, developing, and implementing strategies developed by the Steering Committee and related teams

Community and partner engagement:

  • Develop and maintain a list of community partners and upcoming events. Organize outreach and attend public events representing Team Up, including following-up as needed
  • Coordinating research and other activities with initiative partners to minimize redundancies and to align strategies and actions, including conducting individual outreach and education as needed
  • Coordinate with other related projects and coalitions to maintain a full understanding of the current landscape of local and regional activities, and integrating their work into Steering Committee and Action Team initiatives
  • Cultivate and maintain relationships with key stakeholders in order to build support for and to advance Team Up work

Data-driven strategy & coherence

  • Maintain understanding of current implementation challenges and developing comprehensive solutions to address them
  • In partnership with Community Collaboration Director, develop, maintain, and monitor a set of pending and potential legislative and policy priorities, to support development of annual policy and advocacy agenda
  • In partnership with Community Collaboration Director, provide support to partner organizations in aligning their work to the Common Agenda (e.g., identifying opportunities for program work to support specific goals)
  • Maintain all data gathered by the coalition including event participation and outcome, volunteer contributions, action team outcomes, and survey information obtained by the activities of the grant in a grant database.
  • Work across community collaboration regional team to align goals, strategies, and outcomes
  • Work with youth engagement liaison to embed youth voice in decision making and driving strategies

Communications:

  • Keep partners and the public informed of the Community Collaboration Program's priorities, goals, events, progress, and achievements via the website, newsletter, social media, and communication with local news outlets
  • Facilitate ongoing communication between Team Up partners by hosting and facilitating regular in-person or zoom meetings, or coordinating regular email updates to ensure alignment of activity
  • Plan and manage logistics of, and attend, community events

Fund development and management:

  • Work with Community Collaboration Director to identify potential funding sources to support collective impact goals and priorities in Montezuma and Dolores Counties:
  • Write grant proposals, as needed
  • Administration of grants and reporting to the funders as needed, including maintaining a detailed project plan, timelines, updates; providing budgetary oversight (specifically, tracking cash flow of project expenses)
  • Track and provide participation data, feedback, and other communications to the funders
  • Assist and participate in project evaluation and lessons learned
  • Supervise AmeriCorps Members or contractors who are conducting Team Up related grant service or work.

Training and technical assistance

  • Participate in all required and relevant state-wide collective impact coalitions and groups, training opportunities and other opportunities as recommended (some travel required).
  • Facilitate and coordinate training, project development and implementation, and public awareness activities.

General Team Up related duties

  • Participate in regular staff meetings
  • Assist with organization's fundraising events
  • Be a steward of Team Up and its programs across the 5 counties
  • Other duties as assigned

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor's degree or Associate's Degree combined with relevant work experience
  • Professional experience in health and human services, youth education, and/or the leadership of community collaboration efforts
  • Significant knowledge of the communities in Montezuma and Dolores County from experience living and/or working in the area
  • Significant knowledge of community resources
  • Proven ability to coordinate and manage multiple projects
  • Ability to organize complex systems to keep information accessible
  • Strong communication and coordination skills to keep everyone informed and involved; skill in public speaking can be helpful
  • Meeting facilitation—responding to ideas to assure that everyone feels heard, ability to keep the meeting on track while allowing for discussion and questions, being prepared for meetings
  • Excellent collaboration, leadership and presentation skills
  • Ability to work as a team member as well as independently
  • Ability to implement collaborative approaches in all phases of work
  • Experience with collective impact and/or facilitating collaborative partnerships desired
  • Ability to maintain, evaluate, analyze and report progress on a variety of programs
  • Basic data management skills (ability to keep spreadsheets and understand data)
  • Proficiency in Excel, Word, Power Point, Google Docs, Zoom, e-mail communication, and social media
  • Knowledge and experience working with multiple government agencies is helpful
  • Knowledge and experience in budget management is helpful
  • Ability to track activities and payments, etc. for accurate record-keeping
  • Ability to work with people from diverse backgrounds
  • Access to a reliable vehicle is required
  • Bilingual in English and Spanish is preferred

ORGANIZATION RELATIONSHIPS

Reports to the Director of Community Collaboration in coordination with Montezuma and Dolores County Steering Committees.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

Must be able to perform tasks which involve the ability to exert light physical effort in sedentary to light work on a daily basis. Tasks may involve extended periods of time at a keyboard or workstation. Tasks may also include setting up for events and meetings, traveling across the region, and regular use of standard office equipment such as the telephone, printer, and computer. Demands also involve protracted concentration. Job involves frequent interactions with internal and external customers.

COMPENSATION

The salary for this position will initially be between $27-28 per hour depending on qualifications, experience, and available funding.

WORKING DAYS, HOURS AND BENEFITS

We will consider candidates for this position who are interested in working between 30-32 hours per week, generally Monday-Friday, although there may be occasional nights or weekends required for certain meetings or events. Team Up observes at least 15 paid holidays annually, and offers paid leave for vacation, sick, and family leave time. Health, vision, dental, and optional 403b retirement
