Why This Role Matters
Our CORE Peer Specialists are essential members of our cross-system care teams, providing support for youth and families with complex behavioral health needs. Through the CORE wraparound program, peer specialists combine lived-experience mentorship with care coordination, facilitating family and child team meetings, supporting care planning, and ensuring families are actively engaged in their treatment process. Their role fosters hope, resilience, and empowerment, connecting clinical care with community-based resources to promote recovery and well-being.
Job Duties/Responsibilities
Peer Support & Engagement
- Serve as a role model for youth and families by demonstrating recovery and resilience strategies.
- Provide emotional support, encouragement, and advocacy for families navigating the CORE program.
- Engage youth and families in decision-making, ensuring their voices are central to care.
- Facilitate skill-building opportunities, including coping strategies, social skills, and self-advocacy.
- Meet with youth and families weekly, providing peer-led interventions and guidance.
Care Coordination & Team Collaboration
- Assist in developing and implementing individualized care plans tailored to youth and family strengths.
- Plan and facilitate Child and Family Team (CFT) meetings, ensuring input from all stakeholders.
- Serve as a liaison between youth, families, service providers, and community resources.
- Increase family engagement by identifying and incorporating natural supports into treatment.
- Collaborate with the treatment team to ensure services align with CORE program guidelines and family goals.
Assessment & Crisis Support
- Conduct intake observations in home, school, and community settings.
- Assist in completing family and behavioral health assessments, including strengths and needs evaluations.
- Contribute trauma-informed insights to care planning and crisis response.
- Monitor safety concerns and report any significant incidents, including abuse, neglect, or behavioral crises.
Administrative & Documentation Duties
- Maintain accurate and timely documentation within the Electronic Health Record (EHR).
- Track CFT meeting activities, action steps, and team communications.
- Ensure all required CORE documentation, including crisis plans and progress reports, are completed.
- Provide reports on engagement and intervention outcomes.
- Follow all HIPAA regulations to maintain client confidentiality and data integrity.
Other Related Duties
- Serve as a mandated reporter following agency policies to report suspected or confirmed abuse/neglect.
- Actively participate in staff meetings, multi-disciplinary team meetings, and individual/team supervision.
- Identify and address families' barriers to independence and recovery.
- Facilitate learning opportunities for families by teaching life skills and leading children's activities.
- Appear in court when subpoenaed or required, professionally representing the agency.
Job Qualifications
Education/Experience
- Peer Support Certification required; must obtain within three months of hire.
- Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings, nights, and weekends.
- Operate from a strengths-based perspective.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills with excellent documentation abilities.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a team.
- Knowledge of community resources.
- Professional representation of the agency within the community.
- Basic computer proficiency.
Preferred Skills
- Experience working with culturally diverse populations.
- Lived experience that enhances service delivery (e.g., mental health, substance use, poverty, homelessness).
- Knowledge of the Tri-Cities and Benton/Franklin County community resources.
Certificates/Licenses
- Valid WA State driver's license and clean driving abstract.
- Successfully pass applicable background checks.
- Eligible for Agency-Affiliated Counselor registration.
Working Conditions
- Work performed in office and community settings.
- Regular local travel required.

- Exposure to various weather conditions and environments.
Physical Requirements
- Light work: exerting up to 20 pounds occasionally, up to 10 pounds frequently.
- Repetitive motions of wrists, hands, and/or fingers.
Job Type: Full-time Pay: Starting $17.51
