POSITION SUMMARY
Maintains production and quality by ensuring safe and efficient operation of machinery and mechanical equipment. Reports to Maintenance Supervisor.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES

  • Inspect, operate, and test machinery and equipment to diagnose machine malfunctions.
  • Repair or replace defective equipment parts using hand tools and power tools, and reassemble equipment.
  • Perform routine preventive maintenance to ensure that machines continue to run smoothly, systems operate efficiently, and the physical condition of the presses does not deteriorate.
  • Inspect drives, motors, and belts. Check fluid levels, replace filters, or perform other maintenance actions, following checklists.
  • Use tools ranging from common hand and power tools, such as hammers, hoists, saws, drills, and wrenches to precision measuring instruments and electrical and electronic testing devices.
  • Diagnose mechanical problems and determine how to correct them
  • Dismantle devices to access and remove defective parts, using hoists, cranes, hand tools, and power tools.
  • Plan and lay out repair work, using diagrams, drawings, blueprints, maintenance manuals, or schematic diagrams.
  • Set up and operate machine tools to repair or fabricate machine parts, jigs, fixtures, or tools.
  • Maintain and repair specialized equipment and machinery.
  • Install equipment to improve the operational efficiency.
  • Grease presses
  • Inspect broken grease lines & repair grease leaks
  • Inspect, repair and clean oil leaks on mist units
  • Inspect oil levels and leaks in bailers – report leaks to Maintenance Supervisor
  • Inspect air tanks and filters on presses – drain any water found and report findings to Maintenance Supervisor
  • Conduct daily, weekly and monthly press checks for FGSI requirements – maintain log
  • Conduct monthly crane checks – maintain log
  • Train as a Press Mechanic and Set-Up Mechanic
  • Perform preventive maintenance on equipment
  • General maintenance and other duties as assigned

SAFETY

  • Must follow all Personnel Protective Equipment (PPE) Hazard Assessment requirements.
  • Must follow all Environmental Health and Safety procedural requirements.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • 5-7 years' experience in a manufacturing plant maintenance environment preferred.
  • Relatively high level of analytical ability where problems are complex.
  • Knowledge of basic math.
  • Knowledge of basic mechanical concepts.
  • Demonstrated technical and professional skills in job-related area required.
  • Must have a willingness to learn press maintenance and associated plant mechanics.
  • Will need to be a self-starter and work with minimal supervision.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Must be able to tolerate loud noise
  • Climb ladders and work at heights as high as 25'
  • Operate Scissor lift
  • Lift up to 50 lbs.
  • Hold a valid state Driver's license
