Lead Control Systems Engineer

Overview
We are seeking a highly experienced Control Systems Engineer to take ownership of complex industrial automation projects, from concept through commissioning. This senior leadership role is ideal for someone with deep technical expertise and a passion for guiding teams to deliver reliable, innovative, and standards-compliant solutions. You'll play a pivotal role in shaping advanced control systems for critical applications, while mentoring engineers and ensuring seamless execution across design, testing, and field operations.

What You'll Do

  • Drive the end-to-end design and implementation of control systems for industrial environments, including heat tracing, pump control, and valve automation.
  • Provide hands-on technical leadership and mentorship to engineers, fostering skill growth and ensuring high-quality project delivery.
  • Develop system architectures, functional specifications, heat trace designs, and detailed engineering documents.
  • Program and configure PLCs, DCSs, SCADA platforms, and HMIs to meet operational and client requirements.
  • Design control panels and specify instrumentation, hardware, and network components for advanced automation systems.
  • Conduct site assessments and field walkdowns to translate operational needs into optimized control system designs.
  • Lead simulations, Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT), and commissioning activities to validate system performance.
  • Troubleshoot, optimize, and modernize existing control systems to enhance efficiency, safety, and reliability.
  • Oversee project execution, including scheduling, budgeting, resource allocation, and milestone tracking.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams and serve as the primary client-facing technical expert to ensure alignment and success.
  • Stay informed on new technologies, automation trends, and evolving best practices to continuously improve solutions.

About You

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical, Chemical, or Mechanical Engineering (or a closely related discipline).
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license is a plus, but not required.
  • 10+ years of experience in industrial control systems engineering with demonstrated success in complex projects.
  • Extensive background working with PLCs, DCSs, SCADA systems, industrial networks, and heat trace controls.
  • Proficient in control programming languages such as ladder logic and function block.
  • Hands-on experience with major automation platforms (e.g., Rockwell, Siemens, Emerson, Thermon).
  • Proven ability to analyze and resolve intricate control system challenges in real-world applications.
  • Strong leadership and communication skills with experience managing technical teams.
  • Willingness to travel for site visits, commissioning, and client engagements.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience managing large-scale control system projects from early design to operational handover.
  • Knowledge of relevant industry codes, standards, and best practices in industrial automation and control.
  • Enthusiasm for staying ahead of emerging automation and industrial control technologies.

Benefits

  • Comprehensive compensation package, including base salary and equity opportunities.
  • Retirement or pension plan consistent with local practices.
  • Health, dental, and vision coverage.
  • Generous paid time off aligned with regional norms.

This role offers the opportunity to combine leadership with technical expertise, shaping innovative control systems that support critical industrial operations. If you thrive in dynamic environments where precision and performance are non-negotiable, we'd love to hear from you.
