Job Title: Supervisor of Transition Classrooms

FLSA: Exempt

SUMMARY:

Transition Supervisor will provide direct support to transition classroom staff and school district contacts. Promote advanced understanding and application in Trauma Informed Care and Brain Resiliency. Maintain personal growth and improvement through established development goals

In addition to the details and requirements for the employee listed below, Laurel Life expects the employee be committed to incorporating principles of trauma informed care in all areas of service delivery. Commitment to these principles in trauma treatment will be required through attendance in trainings and use of identified evidence-based practices. Trauma informed care includes cultural sensitivity and emphasizes a safe and respectful environment for all clients and staff.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Ensures efficacy of the Transition Program model across locations and grade levels.

  • Regular visits and observation of transition classrooms

  • Follow up with transition staff on results of visits and observations
  • Coordinates staff activities and assignments; clarifies roles and responsibilities; ensures completion of all team assignments and tasks
  • Manages staff, including performance coaching, clinical and administrative support, and leadership activities
  • Works collaboratively with customer districts and other agencies; performs marketing and public relations activities to enhance growth of programs.

  • Coordinates the development of team operating plans, performance milestones, and appropriate task assignments.

  • Compiles and quantifies data specific to outcomes of the Transition Program.?
  • Ensures data is prepared and available for review and marketing purposes monthly.
  • Identifies staffing needs, assists the organization's Regional Director in hiring new staff; completes performance feedback and evaluations on employees.
  • Work as a positive team member supporting the team's mission and goals, consistently working in a trusting and cooperative manner with fellow team members and supporting the team's common operating approach.

  • Is committed to the value of communication and agrees to maintain contact with program staff.

  • Communicates organizational policies and procedures as required; maintains interconnectedness with the total organization.
  • Demonstrates commitment to professional growth by attending all required meetings, trainings and organizational trainings.

  • Mission, and assists the operating team in defining its vision, mission and goals.

  • Accepts professional responsibility and serves as a role model for positive, pro-social behavior; modeling respect, responsibility, integrity, empathy, impulse control, emotional self-awareness, and professional boundaries.

  • Candidate will have to successfully complete and maintain certification of ESPI training. ESPI techniques are only used in compliance with Laurel Life policy and procedure and within guidelines established by third-party experts in the proper and legal use of ESPI.
  • May perform other special projects or duties as requested by the Team Leader, Clinical Leader, Supervisor, Regional Director, Managing Director, Chief Operations Officer or Chief Executive Officer.

SKILLS

Maintains specific expertise in classroom management, Trauma Informed Care, and Brain Science Resiliency. Possess good interpersonal and communication skills, including the ability to develop effective and meaningful relationships with staff. Must be able to identify underlying causes of problem situations and recommend non-aversive behavioral change methods. Must be a team player.

EDUCATION

Thorough knowledge of behavior management techniques and crisis intervention skills as would be acquired through one of these requirements:

  • Licensure in a Doctoral level psychology field; and two years supervisory experience within the Transition Program.
  • Licensed Clinical Psychologist; and one-year supervisory experience within the Transition Program.
  • Licensed Professional Counselor; and one-year supervisory experience within the Transition Program.
  • Licensed Clinical Social Worker; and one-year supervisory experience within the Transition Program.

  • Licensed Social Worker with three years' experience in a behavior health clinical setting; and one-year supervisory experience within the Transition Program.

  • Masters Level Therapist with three years of experience in a behavior health clinical setting; and one-year supervisory experience within the Transition Program.
  • Other master's level mental health field with documented clinical training in the field with emphasis in the area of behavior modification. This level of training would require supervision by someone with the above listed levels of training. One-year supervisory experience within the Transition Program.
  • Certified Teacher with three years of direct classroom instruction and one-year supervisory experience within the Transition Program.

WORKING CONDITIONS

Work setting includes transition classrooms within several York County and Franklin County School Districts. Travel between these locations will be expected.
