Offers will be commensurate with the candidate's experience and qualifications and will thoughtfully consider internal pay equity for agency staff who perform similar duties and have similar qualifications. The top half of the posted salary range is generally reserved for candidates who exceed the requirements and qualifications for the role. The maximum salary range is reserved for candidates that far exceed the required and preferred qualifications for the role.

Position Overview: The Leadership and Instructional Foundations for Texas (LIFT) division is driven by the core belief that every student can learn and content matters. The division supports Texas districts and schools in adopting and implementing high-quality instructional materials (HQIM) to provide all students with access to rigorous, grade-level content and instruction every day.

The Content Lead, High-Quality Instructional Materials (HQIM) Math will lead the vendor in development and continuous improvement of Math Research-Based Instructional Strategies (RBIS) connected to the Science of Math. They will ensure all content aligns with program vision, research, and adult professional learning best practices and supports the field with strong implementation of Bluebonnet Learning instructional materials. The Content Lead collaborates across the agency to support different initiatives in utilizing HQIM product content and Math RBIS to support their broader workstreams.

The Content Lead, HQIM Math is responsible for developing and delivering HQIM-aligned professional learning (HQPL) for Approved Providers (APs)s to redeliver to effectively support Local Education Agencies (LEAs)s in the adoption and implementation of HQIM. The Lead takes an active role in ensuring alignment across the content team and driving creation and implementation of high-quality training for the field. This includes leading the strategy and build-out of a future HQIM Product Hub model to support ongoing training and support of individuals across the state through Education Service Centers who redeliver HQIM product training. The Content Program Lead will work side-by-side with vendor partners and Education Service Centers to ensure a robust and rigorous HQIM product training process exists to support the ongoing demand for HQIM product training in the field.

This position reports to the Deputy Director, High-Quality Instructional Materials Academic Content in the LIFT division, which resides in the Office of School Programs.

Flexible work location within the state of Texas may be considered for qualified candidates.

Essential Functions
Job duties are not limited to the essential functions mentioned below. You may perform other functions as assigned.

1. Product-aligned Content and Professional Learning Development: Lead and manage vendor development of Math product training and district support content and tools. They will collaborate with Content Specialist to lead the development of content and tools. Collaborate with partner teams on material iteration and versions for different district roles. Ensure all content aligns with program vision, research, and adult professional learning best practices.
2. Research-Based Instructional Strategies (RBIS) Content Development and Continuous Improvement: Lead and manage vendor development and continuous improvement of Math RBIS content in alignment with the Science of Math. Ensure all content aligns with program vision, research, and adult professional learning best practices. Collaborate with partner teams across agency to support different initiatives in utilizing Math RBIS to support their broader workstreams.
3. LIFT-wide program outcomes: Contributes toward Strong Foundations Implementation (SFI)/Texas Instructional Leadership (TIL)/LIFT program outcomes through workstream and individual input and output metrics. Creates a culture of collaboration and cohesion within the LIFT team. Works across agency teams and support cross-team alignment in service of a streamlined district experience.
4. Field Visits & AP Improvement Support: Conduct field visits and provide feedback on district implementation and AP support. Support AP continuous professional learning, performance management, and coaching structures.
5. Legacy Program Support for Strong Foundations Implementation: Develop and refine Product Training Hub system at Education Service Centers to ensure the ongoing redelivery Product training in the field. The Content Lead will collaborate with partner ESCs to support the broader AP community with Product training and redelivery.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications

  • Education: Graduation from an accredited four-year college or university
  • Experience: At least five (5) years of experience in curriculum development and support and/or teaching and coaching
  • Substitutions: An advanced degree may substitute for two years of required experience

Other Qualifications

  • Share the belief that all Texas students can achieve at high levels and are able to succeed in college, career, or the military
  • Knowledge of research-based instructional strategies on how students learn math
  • Knowledge of field-proven best practices in instructional materials, instruction, and assessment
  • Knowledge of field-proven best practices in curriculum-embedded professional learning and use of high-leverage protocols and practices to support effective HQIM implementation
  • Skill in designing, developing, and delivering high-quality professional learning
  • Skill in measuring and monitoring key metrics for continuous improvement
  • Ability to collaborate with other TEA divisions, departments, and offices to support strategic alignment and integration with other agency initiatives
  • Ability to build relationships with key internal and external stakeholders, including teachers, instructional coaches, school leaders, district leaders, Education Service Centers, other approved providers, and partner vendors
  • Prior experience using tools including Microsoft Excel, Microsoft PowerPoint, Smartsheet, Power BI, or other tools
