Process Engineer II

Overview

The Process Engineer II provides technical process engineering support and performance monitoring for daily dairy manufacturing operations. This role requires strong process expertise in dairy systems and equipment, with a focus on optimizing performance, improving reliability, and supporting continuous improvement initiatives across operations.

Responsibilities

Technical Expertise & Operations Support

  • Serve as the subject matter expert for assigned processing areas, supporting operations, maintenance, and automation teams.
  • Define, develop, and optimize processing equipment and systems used in the manufacturing of products.
  • Provide dairy process engineering guidance to plant operations, automation, and other cross-functional teams.
  • Support day-to-day troubleshooting to minimize downtime and improve process stability.
  • Participate as the engineering representative on the Product Excellence team led by R&D.

Process Optimization & Continuous Improvement

  • Partner with the Operational Productivity team to identify and implement process improvements within the area of responsibility.
  • Track, trend, and report defined Process Performance Metrics (PPMs).
  • Leverage PPM monitoring and analysis to identify opportunities for process and equipment optimization.
  • Support R&D Innovation and Quality teams in developing new processing systems and solutions that enhance product performance and customer satisfaction.

Project & Design Support

  • Collaborate with the CAD team to maintain and update drawings, including P&IDs and Process Flow Diagrams.
  • Provide input on critical spare parts, preventive maintenance schedules, and capital project design considerations.
  • Offer weekend on-call support as needed to assist maintenance and operations in reducing downtime.
  • Travel occasionally to equipment vendors and other facilities.
