Based in Kansas City, this leader will drive execution, oversee throughput, and guide foremen and technicians to deliver high-quality builds on time.
This role is critical to transforming engineered production plans into real, daily shop workflows. You'll partner closely with Engineering and Purchasing, remove bottlenecks, enforce standards, and build a team committed to craftsmanship and urgency.
City is poised for monumental growth and is ready to find a new teammate who is ready to take on the challenge. Do you have what it takes?
Responsibilities:
- Lead daily production operations across Kansas City, Houston, and Atlanta.
- Assign jobs in the ERP based on engineered schedules and available labor.
- Ensure foremen and technicians meet/exceed quality and timeline expectations.
- Monitor WIP, labor efficiency, and job status to hit throughput goals.
- Partner with the Director of Engineering to build and maintain monthly production schedules.
- Coordinate with the Purchasing Manager to align parts availability with labor plans.
- Forecast labor requirements by facility and adjust staffing or workflow as needed.
- Address schedule changes or bottlenecks quickly and effectively.
- Directly manage 3 Foremen; indirectly oversee 12+ technicians.
- Provide coaching, training, accountability, and performance management.
- Support foremen—especially those with limited leadership experience.
- Build a culture centered on urgency, craftsmanship, teamwork, and customer focus.
- Maintain standardized processes and safety procedures across all facilities.
- Implement improvements to reduce rework and improve cycle time.
- Ensure shop floors meet company organization and cleanliness standards.
- Verify all tools, lifts, and equipment are safe and properly maintained.
- Track daily KPIs: throughput, labor utilization, technician efficiency, and rework.
- Provide customer updates related to build timelines or lead times when needed.
Qualifications
- 5+ years of upfitting, shop management, or vehicle assembly leadership experience.
- Strong background in production scheduling, labor planning, and workflow management.
- ERP experience required (Fullbay, NetSuite, or similar).
- Proficient with Excel and planning tools.
- Proven success coaching and developing teams with varied experience levels.
- Strong communication, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
- Ability to anticipate obstacles and proactively overcome challenges.
- Valid Driver's License; background check and drug screen required.
- Bachelor's degree preferred but not required.
Physical Requirements
- Office and shop-floor hybrid role.
- Ability to walk production facilities, observe builds, and communicate clearly.
- Ability to lift 25–50 lbs.
- Exposure to noise, tools, and moving equipment.
Schedule & Travel
- Full-time, Monday–Friday, 8 a.m.–5 p.m.
- Additional hours as needed based on production demand.
