is seeking a skilled
Project Engineer
to support small projects and operational initiatives for
chemical facilities
. This role demands a mechanically focused professional with strong coordination, communication, and leadership capabilities. The successful candidate will ensure engineering excellence through timely, accurate, and compliant project deliverables. This role will be local to the Greater
New Orleans, LA
area.
Responsibilities
Project Execution & Coordination
- Lead engineering activities for assigned scopes, ensuring alignment with schedule, budget, and standards.
- Coordinate multidisciplinary teams across local and remote execution centers.
- Prepare and manage project documentation including Line Lists, Equipment Lists, Tie-in Schedules, and Basis of Design.
- Support subcontract scope development and interdisciplinary input consolidation.
Quality & HSE Assurance
- Ensure engineering deliverables meet quality and Health, Safety, Environment, and Security (HSES) standards.
- Develop and implement project-specific procedures under guidance.
- Chair technical meetings with third parties and resolve technical issues.
Schedule & Planning
- Develop and manage engineering schedules and resource forecasts.
- Conduct regular reviews to monitor progress and mitigate delays.
- Support change management and scope revisions in collaboration with the Project Manager.
Design Verification & Technical Oversight
- Apply principles of design verification with supervision.
- Assure technical excellence and compliance across engineering disciplines.
- Review and issue accurate designs, reports, and other deliverables.
Team Leadership & Communication
- Supervise and coordinate technical professionals (team size: 10–50).
- Communicate effectively with internal teams, client representatives, and project stakeholders.
- Promote continuous improvement and lessons learned across project phases.
Deliverables
- Engineering documentation: Line List, Equipment List, Tie-in List, BEDD, etc.
- Project plans, basis of design, subcontract scopes.
- Accurate and timely issuance of designs and reports.
- Progress reports and recovery plans as needed.
Working Relationships
- Daily interaction with internal engineering teams and workshare centers.
- Regular interface with project management and functional leadership.
- External coordination with client engineering teams and third-party stakeholders.
Qualifications
QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field; Master's preferred.
- 5+ years as an engineer and 1-5 years as a project engineer.
Skills & Experience
- Strong understanding of project scopes, milestones, and contractual requirements.
- Proficient in engineering standards, procedures, and interdisciplinary coordination.
- Commercially aware with experience in change control and client satisfaction.
- Skilled in planning, organizing, and executing engineering tasks.
- Effective communicator with problem-solving and leadership capabilities.
