*About the Role*
Project Support Services (PSS) is seeking a *Project Manager III – Technology* to lead large-scale, mission-critical technology initiatives within major public-sector capital construction programs. This role is ideal for a senior technical project manager who thrives at the intersection of *IT, Facilities, and Construction*, and who can confidently lead complex, multi-disciplinary teams from planning through closeout.
You will oversee technology infrastructure projects across multiple campuses, ensuring systems are fully integrated, secure, compliant, and operationally ready at turnover.
*What You’ll Be Responsible For*
* Manage *15–20 concurrent technology projects*, with individual project values reaching *up to $100M*
* Oversee scopes including *network infrastructure, audiovisual systems, access control, and video surveillance*
* Lead cross-functional teams including architects, engineers, College Project Teams (CPTs), District IT staff, consultants, and systems integrators
* Facilitate and lead design coordination meetings to validate *IT and Facilities Systems integration*
* Review and validate *Division 27 and Division 28* designs, specifications, shop drawings, RFIs, and submittals
* Oversee implementation of *physical security systems* (Lenel, Milestone, Axis, and similar platforms)
* Manage *audiovisual deployments* across classrooms, lecture halls, auditoriums, and athletic facilities, ensuring ADA compliance and instructional functionality (Extron and similar systems)
* Develop and manage project risk assessments and mitigation strategies in collaboration with cost estimators and construction managers
* Oversee commissioning, training, system turnover, and closeout documentation while continuously improving delivery processes
* Maintain detailed project documentation and provide regular progress updates to PMO leadership
* Ensure compliance with District IT governance, standards, and lifecycle support requirements
*Minimum Qualifications*
* *10+ years* of experience managing large-scale IT and low-voltage construction projects
* *5+ years* of experience in *higher education or public-sector environments*
* Proven experience managing consultants, engineers, and integrators across multiple delivery models:
* Design-Bid-Build
* Design-Build
* Lease-Leaseback
* Demonstrated experience delivering *AV and Physical Security projects* from design through commissioning
* Strong working knowledge of *Division 27 and Division 28 specifications*
* Experience with technology budgeting, scoping, procurement, and lifecycle planning
* Proficiency with *BIM/Revit, Bluebeam*, and construction coordination tools
* Strong ability to coordinate with contractors, integrators, and campus stakeholders during active construction
*Preferred Qualifications*
* Registered Communication Cabling Designer (*RCDD*) certification
* Project Management certification (PMP or equivalent)
* Industry certifications such as *CTS, CCIE, or ASIS*
* Experience with *Design-Build projects* in California Community College facilities
* Familiarity with public-sector bidding, contracting, and funding programs
* Experience deploying *cloud-based facilities and IT systems*
* Familiarity with *TIA/EIA industry standards*
* Experience integrating *audiovisual, electronic physical security, and high-speed data networks* within construction environments
* Experience with *air-blown fiber solutions* and enterprise network infrastructure (Cisco, Aruba)
