Under the general direction of the Director of Senior Services, the Customer Service Representative provides essential support to the Senior Services team and helps ensure smooth daily operations at Uptown Social. The primary purpose of this position is to serve as a professional and trustworthy customer service representative during open hours and private rentals as well as assist with ongoing administrative and project tasks.

The role is available as a part time, 20 hours per week position or can be split into two 10 hours per week positions.

  • Maintain helpful presence at front desk
  • Greet and assist Uptown Social participants and volunteers
  • Answer phones
  • Execute opening/closing procedures
  • Process membership applications, program registrations, payments, etc.
  • Maintain accurate records
  • Support staff with clerical tasks and project work
  • Move furniture and program supplies as needed

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required.
  • Previous direct customer service experience preferred.
  • Previous experience in an office setting preferred.
  • Comfortable working in direct participant interactions whether by phone, email, or in person
  • Strong interpersonal, communication and organizational skills and a strong sense of responsibility and initiative, able to work independently
  • Ability and willingness to learn, adaptability to new technologies, flexibility when faced with challenging situations, ability to work in an ambiguous environment
  • Awareness of occupational hazards, environmental regulations and safe work practice

On a frequent basis, the Senior Services Customer Service Representative must have the ability to stand, walk, sit, talk, and reach with hands and arms and to occasionally lift, bend, stoop and retrieve boxes and/or furniture weighing up to 40 pounds. Position requires the operation of office equipment and requires repetitive hand movement and fine coordination including use of a computer mouse and keyboard.
