Environmental Services Technician

About the Position

St. Stephen Baptist Church and The Family Life Center are seeking dependable and detail-oriented Environmental Services (EVS) Technicians to support a clean, safe, and welcoming environment for worship services, classes, community programs, and recreational activities. EVS Technicians are essential to ensuring that all facilities reflect the excellence and hospitality of our ministry.

Key Responsibilities

· Maintain cleanliness of all assigned areas, including classrooms, restrooms, offices, gymnasium, sanctuary, hallways, event spaces, and common areas.

· Perform regular cleaning tasks such as sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, trash removal, dusting, and surface sanitization.

· Clean and disinfect high-touch areas to ensure a healthy and safe environment for members and visitors.

· Assist with event setup and breakdown, including moving tables, chairs, and equipment.

· Restock supplies such as paper products, hand soap, sanitizer, and cleaning materials.

· Report maintenance needs, safety hazards, or equipment concerns to the supervisor.

· Support seasonal cleaning projects and deep-cleaning initiatives.

· Maintain cleaning equipment and use chemicals safely according to training and safety standards.

· Provide outstanding customer service to ministry leaders, staff, and guests.

Qualifications

· Previous custodial, janitorial, housekeeping, or environmental services experience preferred but not required.

· Ability to lift up to 40lbs, bend, stand, and perform physical tasks for extended periods.

· Strong attention to detail and pride in maintaining clean, organized spaces.

· Dependability and a strong work ethic.

· Ability to follow instructions and work independently or as part of a team.

· Willingness to work flexible hours, including some evenings, weekends, and special events.

· Commitment to the mission, values, and culture of St. Stephen Baptist Church.

Work Schedule & Environment

· Positions available at both the Church Campus and The Family Life Center.

· Work may include early mornings, evenings, or weekend shifts depending on ministry needs.

· This role requires indoor and limited outdoor work.

Job Type: Part-time

Pay: $ $17.00 per hour

Expected hours: 25 – 30 per week
