Residential Direct Support Professional (DSP) – Part Time
Job Overview
We are seeking a compassionate and dependable Residential Direct Support Professional (DSP) to provide hands-on support in a home-based residential setting for individuals with developmental disabilities, aging-related needs, or other health challenges. In this role, you will help maintain a safe, structured, and supportive home environment while promoting independence, dignity, and quality of life.
This part-time position is ideal for caregivers who value consistency, relationship-based care, and making a meaningful impact in a residential setting.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide support with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs) including bathing, dressing, grooming, toileting, and mobility assistance using adaptive equipment when required.
- Assist individuals with daily routines, household structure, and personal care needs.
- Administer medications in accordance with physician orders, care plans, and HIPAA regulations.
- Monitor physical, emotional, and behavioral well-being; report changes to supervisors or healthcare providers.
- Prepare and assist with meals and snacks in accordance with dietary guidelines and individual preferences.
- Maintain a clean, safe, and organized living environment, including light housekeeping and sanitation tasks.
- Support individuals with leisure activities within the home and community as appropriate.
- Accurately complete documentation including daily notes, medication logs, and incident reports.
- Follow all safety protocols including CPR, First Aid, behavior support plans, dementia/Alzheimer's care, autism support, and developmental disability services.
- Provide calm, respectful redirection and support during behavioral challenges, when applicable.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum of one (1) year of experience in a caregiver or direct support role (required)
- Prior experience in group homes, assisted living, nursing facilities, or home & community-based services preferred
- CPR and First Aid certification required (or willingness to obtain)
- Experience with medication administration and following individualized care plans preferred
- Ability to safely lift, assist with transfers, and perform physical tasks related to resident care
- Strong communication and documentation skills
- Compassionate, patient, and respectful approach when supporting individuals with diverse needs
- Availability to work part-time shifts, including evenings, weekends, or overnight hours as scheduled
