Cloud Engineer

Tyto Athene is searching for a Cloud Engineer - Journeyman to support U.S. Southern Command on the SCITES II Contract in Doral, Florida.

The Journeyman Cloud Engineer provides day to day deployment, management, and optimization of cloud-based solutions for government and military environments. This role requires deep expertise in systems integration, cloud/hybrid architectures, and secure, scalable solutions aligned with DoD IT strategy.

Responsibilities:

• Proficient in working with AWS, Azure, and hybrid cloud platforms, focusing on the implementation of Infrastructure-as-a-Service (IaaS) and Platform-as-a-Service (PaaS) offerings
• Supports cloud migration efforts by assisting in the creation and configuration of virtual networks, storage, and compute resources to align with mission requirements
• Demonstrates a strong understanding of cloud security best practices and compliance with federal regulations, including NIST and FedRAMP
• Works closely with senior cloud architects and development teams to ensure the seamless integration of cloud solutions into existing infrastructure, contributing to the delivery of secure, scalable, and cost-effective services
• Supports the automation of cloud infrastructure using Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC) tools like Terraform and CloudFormation, contributing to the optimization of provisioning and deployment processes
• Collaborates with DevSecOps teams to assist in managing CI/CD pipelines, ensuring efficient deployment and monitoring of cloud-based applications
• Troubleshoots and resolves cloud-related issues, ensuring that cloud environments remain highly available and resilient
• Continuously improves cloud infrastructure by applying monitoring tools, such as CloudWatch or Azure Monitor, to assess system performance and implement necessary adjustments
• Assists in the development of cloud adoption strategies by providing technical support and recommendations for infrastructure optimization, ensuring alignment with military and government mission objectives

Required:

• Associate's degree in IT, Engineering, or related discipline
• 4-9 years of experience in systems or cloud administration
• Experience supporting or administering Microsoft Azure or similar environments
• Familiarity with PowerShell, CLI, or other scripting tools
• Microsoft 102, VMware VCP, COMPTIA Cloud+ or similar

Desired:

• Bachelor's degree in IT, Engineering, or related discipline
• Experience with hybrid cloud deployments or virtual environments (e.g., VMware).
• Exposure to infrastructure as code (Terraform, ARM templates).

Clearance:

• Secret clearance required with the ability to obtain a TS/SCI

Certification:

• DoD 8570 Baseline & CE certifications are required for all positions and may vary slightly depending on the skillset required to perform the role
• CompTIA Security+ CE
• Microsoft Azure Administrator Associate
