Performs complex professional work assisting with developing, implementing, integrating, and supporting enterprise and department technology infrastructure and software applications, managing information systems, procedures, and staff, preparing, and maintaining systems, records, and files; does related work as required. Work is performed under the general direction of the Information Technology Director.
- Assist the IT Director with the development of plans and programs which will provide for the evaluation, selection, deployment, support, and perpetuation of technology systems to further the Town's overall goals and objectives.
- Assist the IT Director with the development and management of the major functions of the IT Department which are system servers and storage systems, database management, software development/procurement, public safety and law enforcement systems, LAN, WAN, Wi-Fi networks, desktop/laptop/handheld computers and associated applications, and communication services.
- Assist the IT Director with the preparation of the departmental budget and the controlling of expenditures and prepares bid specifications, requests for information, and requests for proposals, evaluates proposals and negotiates contracts.
- Manage personnel and systems responsible for providing technical support to all the Town's departments.
- Comprehensive knowledge of information technology systems and design, procurement, installation, support, and perpetuation of same.
- Ability to coordinate effectively with and maintain effective working relationships with user department personnel, department heads, Town officials, external government agencies, and the public to effect solutions to information-related problems or opportunities.
- Proven track record in delivering outstanding customer service, effective project management, short- and long-term planning, and contract negotiation.
- Comprehensive knowledge of current technology, trends, and developments in the areas of information systems, storage systems, and communication systems.
- Comprehensive knowledge of local and wide area networks.
- Ability to establish and measure clear objectives; ability to effectively communicate with and to a diverse audience, excellent and succinct oral and written communication skills.
- Ability to evaluate systems and procedures logically and realistically.
- Ability to evaluate, direct, coordinate, and assign responsibilities to staff that promotes full performance and the most efficient operation of the department.
Education and Experience
- Any combination of education and experience equivalent to graduation from an accredited college with a bachelor's degree in information technology or related field, with 10 years of experience or 15 years of experience in the information technology field.
Special Requirements
- Valid North Carolina driver's license.
- Applicant must successfully complete all job screening(s) necessary to be employed in the Public Safety environment.
- Successful completion of a supervisory training course
Additional Information
- The starting salary will be determined based on the selected candidate's skills and qualifications.
