Public Works Operator

Job Summary:
This position is to serve as an operator for the road department Big Beaver Borough.

Duties:

• Perform traffic control operations
• Operate and maintain all Borough owned equipment and vehicles
• Clean and maintain all Borough property
• Mow grass
• Patch potholes
• Prepare material and equipment for snow removal
• Remove snow from Borough roads and property
• Installation, maintenance, and repair of catch basins and culverts
• Remove litter from Borough roads and property
• Perform road construction and resurfacing
• Maintain ditches along Borough roads
• Perform carpentry, electrical, and plumbing repairs and maintenance at all Borough facilities
• Trim and remove trees
• Maintenance, repair, and replacement of all traffic signs
• Perform dye testing and camera work
• Work in a safe manner
• Follow all rules, regulations, and policies set forth by the Borough, State or Federal government

Qualifications:

• A high school diploma or GED and previous public works or related work experience required
• A valid Class A or B CDL with a clean driving record
• Good hygiene and a clean overall appearance
• Ability to have a good working relationship with other Borough employees and the general public
• Ability to lift 50 pounds
• Must be willing and able to perform manual labor for extended periods of time, sometimes under adverse conditions

WORKING CONDITIONS:

• This is a 40 hour per week position; however, occasional evening, weekend, and holiday hours will be required due to inclement weather or other activities in the Borough.
• Normal work hours are 7:00 am - 3:00 pm with a 30-minute paid lunch break.
• Work is generally performed outdoors in various types of weather
• The position is subject to random drug and alcohol screenings which must have negative results.
