Barista Shift Leader

Job Summary
We are seeking a motivated and experienced Barista Shift Leader to oversee daily operations in our bustling café. The ideal candidate will combine exceptional customer service skills with leadership abilities to ensure smooth shifts, maintain high-quality beverage and food standards, and foster a welcoming environment for both customers and team members. This role requires a strong understanding of food safety, POS systems, and retail math, along with the ability to manage time effectively in a fast-paced setting.

Duties

• Lead and supervise the café team during shifts, ensuring efficient service delivery and adherence to company standards
• Prepare and serve high-quality coffee beverages, food items, and other menu offerings with attention to detail
• Operate POS systems such as Aloha POS and Micros POS for order processing, cash handling, and sales transactions
• Manage cash register operations including cashiering, cash handling, and balancing tills at shift end
• Provide excellent customer service by addressing inquiries, resolving issues promptly, and creating a positive experience for guests
• Ensure compliance with food safety protocols and proper food handling procedures
• Assist in training new team members on food preparation, serving techniques, POS operation, and safety standards
• Maintain cleanliness and organization of work areas in accordance with health regulations
• Support inventory management by monitoring stock levels and communicating supply needs to management
• Uphold the café's standards for quality, speed, cleanliness, and customer satisfaction

Experience

• Previous barista experience with a strong background in coffee preparation and food service preferred
• Experience using POS systems such as Aloha POS or Micros POS is highly desirable
• Demonstrated leadership skills or prior supervisory experience in a retail or food industry setting is a plus
• Strong customer service skills with the ability to handle diverse guest interactions professionally
• Basic math skills including retail math, café calculations, and cash handling accuracy
• Knowledge of food safety standards and proper food handling procedures
• Excellent time management skills to prioritize tasks efficiently during busy shifts
