Principal AI Solution Architect – Nuclear Online Work Management

Fully Remote

Long-Term Contract

$/hr. Depending on Experience

The Digital Applications organization at a large, regulated energy generation enterprise is modernizing how non-outage nuclear work is planned, prioritized, and executed across its fleet. As part of a Nuclear Online Work Management implementation, the organization is moving away from a rigid, 28-week waterfall scheduling model toward a more iterative, perpetual work execution approach, one that continuously evaluates work readiness based on parts availability, system readiness, and operational priorities. The Principal AI Solution Architect will play a critical role in shaping and governing the use of artificial intelligence across this transformation. This individual will serve as a senior technical leader and Responsible AI (RAI) Champion, ensuring AI solutions introduced in support of nuclear work management are ethical, compliant, scalable, and aligned with both business objectives and regulatory expectations.

This role partners closely with IT leadership, business stakeholders, and engineering teams to define AI strategy, evaluate use cases, establish architectural patterns, and guide implementation across a multi-site nuclear environment (12 sites today, expanding to 13). The ideal candidate brings deep AI expertise, strong governance instincts, and the ability to translate strategy into executable architecture. If the below description matches your skillset, or you're interested in learning more, we encourage you to apply

Your Responsibilities Include:

  • Serve as a principal-level architect providing technical leadership for AI solutions supporting Nuclear Online Work Management initiatives.
  • Define current-state and future-state AI architectures that enable iterative, data-driven prioritization and execution of non-outage nuclear work.
  • Act as a Responsible AI Champion, ensuring AI solutions comply with established RAI policies, risk frameworks, and governance standards.
  • Evaluate, intake, and govern AI use cases across various stages (ideation, analysis, design, development, and production).
  • Establish and maintain approved AI architectural patterns, guardrails, and best practices for enterprise adoption.
  • Collaborate with business, IT, and operational stakeholders to align AI strategy with nuclear operations, maintenance planning, and execution needs.
  • Provide architectural guidance for AI solutions across development and production environments, with a strong emphasis on reliability, security, and regulatory compliance.
  • Maintain awareness of AI industry trends, regulatory changes, and emerging technologies, advising leadership on opportunities and risks.
  • Communicate architecture decisions, roadmaps, and governance outcomes clearly to technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Mentor and coach architects, engineers, and technical teams while fostering a culture of learning, accountability, and continuous improvement.
