Prunuske Chatham, Inc. (PCI Ecological) is seeking a Senior Environmental Planner with experience in
ecological restoration permitting to join our team in Sebastopol, CA. PCI is a small, multi-disciplinary firm
that specializes in ecological restoration throughout Northern California. Our team of engineers,
scientists, landscape architects, environmental planners, and construction staff work collaboratively to
produce high-quality outcomes for our clients. Our work focuses on environmental restoration, habitat
enhancement, and landscape design, with an emphasis on rivers, watersheds, and parks and open space
to support ecological and landscape enhancement. Our team also provides master planning, CEQA
compliance services, and regulatory permitting for clients that manage natural open space and

The Senior Environmental Planner will fill a dynamic and challenging role as part of a multi-disciplinary
team conducting research and coordinating with clients, engineers and designers, technical subconsultants, and resource agency staff to ensure project success for our public, private, and NGO clients. The ideal candidate has the ability to think critically when working with our design and science teams to evaluate complex restoration projects and bring a strong background in both ecological restoration and traditional permitting pathways for projects across a range of landscapes and regulatory agencies. We are seeking a senior environmental planner capable of leading interdisciplinary teams for CEQA compliance, permitting, and monitoring, including guiding staff through handling complex permit
applications, reviewing plans for compliance, coordinating with agencies, and providing technical
guidance on environmental regulations.
Key Responsibilities:
· Serve as senior environmental planner and/or project manager for projects of varying
complexity; coordinate and develop relationships with regulatory staff; collaborate with internal
and partner team members of various technical disciplines and communicate responsively to
clients and project stakeholders.
· Allocate staff to project tasks, provide task management, manage project budgets, and
communicate responsively to the client and project subconsultants.
· Develop and lead implementation of permitting and CEQA compliance strategies for complex
restoration projects.
· Guide the collection and analysis of project-related natural resource data and produce written
documentation of findings.
· Prepare and technically review documents, reports, presentations, technical memoranda, public
notices, forms, and other work products with a focus on CEQA and NEPA documents and Master
Plans.
· Work collaboratively with PCI science and design staff and external clients throughout the
project cycle to facilitate successful environmental compliance outcomes through construction
and permit closeout.
· Help grow PCI's planning practice by cultivating relationships with new and existing clients.
· Represent PCI in local and regional working groups, professional organizations, and restoration
symposia.
· Develop proposals and fee estimates for planning projects.
· Mentor junior-level staff of various disciplines.
Qualifications:
· BS/MS in environmental science/policy, natural resource planning, biology, or closely related
discipline
· 10+ years of relevant permitting experience, with at least 7 years of experience in a lead
permitting role on large, complex projects. Experience managing and securing permit approvals
for restoration and other projects in California is required.
· Project management and business development experience is required.
· Demonstrated oral and written communication skills and experience producing high-quality
reports.
