The position of Field Engineer is to provide direct support to the General Superintendent and Superintendent for the management of the company's construction projects. Ensure construction plans meet guidelines and specifications of building codes and other regulations. Establish, monitor, maintain, and update construction work schedules. The basic managerial steps applied are goal Setting, Planning, Communicating, Organizing, Implementing, and Tracking.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Site Inspection and Assessment: Conduct regular site visits to assess progress, safety, and adherence to specifications and regulations.
  • Monitor construction activities to ensure compliance with quality standards and specifications.
  • Collaborate with project managers, architects, engineers, and subcontractors to ensure smooth project execution.
  • Assist in developing construction plans, schedules, and timelines, ensuring projects are completed on time and within budget.
  • Surveying and Layout: Conduct surveying and layout activities to establish reference points, lines, and grades for construction projects.
  • Coordinate the procurement, delivery, and inventory management of materials and equipment required for construction.
  • Oversee subcontractors' work to ensure compliance with project specifications, safety standards, and timelines.
  • Identify and resolve technical issues and challenges that arise during construction activities.
  • Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations and promote a culture of safety on the construction site.
  • Maintain accurate records of construction activities, including daily reports, progress photos, and as-built drawings.
  • Document and communicate any changes to project scope, schedule, or budget to the appropriate stakeholders.
  • Liaise with clients to provide progress updates, address concerns, and ensure client satisfaction throughout the construction process.
  • Ensure compliance with environmental regulations and best practices during construction activities.
  • Assist in monitoring project costs and identifying cost-saving opportunities to keep projects within budget.
  • Provide technical support to field staff, subcontractors, and other project team members as needed.
  • Continuously update knowledge of construction methods, materials, and technologies, and provide training to junior staff as necessary.
  • Coordinate maintenance and repairs of construction equipment to ensure optimal performance and safety.
  • Identify and mitigate risks associated with construction activities to minimize project delays and cost overruns.
  • Ensure compliance with building codes, zoning laws, permits, and other regulatory requirements.
  • Address conflicts and disputes that may arise on the construction site, seeking resolution through effective communication and negotiation.
  • Performs other position appropriate duties as required in a competent, professional, and courteous manner.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES

  • Understanding of construction methods, materials, and techniques.
  • Proficiency in reading and interpreting blueprints, construction drawings, and specifications.
  • Knowledge of surveying principles and equipment.
  • Familiarity with relevant engineering software and tools (e.g., AutoCAD, BIM software, project management software).
  • Understanding of building codes, regulations, and industry standards.
  • Knowledge of health, safety, and environmental regulations related to construction.
  • Project Management Skills:
  • Ability to plan, organize, and prioritize tasks effectively.
  • Proficiency in construction planning, scheduling, and budgeting.
  • Strong problem-solving and critical thinking skills.
  • Attention to detail and accuracy in documentation and reporting.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Knowledge of project management methodologies and practices.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

  • OSHA 10 and 30
  • CPR/First Aid
  • Valid Driver's License
  • Associate's degree in related field

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

  • Performing the duties of this job requires the use of hands to touch, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls. Sit, talk, and hear, stand, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl
    tools, or controls; and to reach with hands and arms. Specific vision ability
  • The employee must be able to lift and/or carry or push/pull over 75+ pounds periodically
  • The employee must be able to stand and/or walk at least eight hours per day
  • The Employee must be able to work and adapt to outside temperature fluctuations, such as the heat of the summer and the cold of the winter months. The work in this position is performed both indoors and outdoors.
  • Reliable, predictable attendance at the scheduled site/office.
  • Ability to work in a stressful environment.
  • Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team.
