KITCO Fiber Optics is actively pursuing optimistic champions for our in-house Customer Service and Sales team. You'll be responsible for answering customer inquiries via phone, email, or chat, and for resolving any customer issues and ensuring their satisfaction. You'll utilize your people skills to provide exceptional customer service and support to our existing and new customers. However, we need someone who can do it all while staying organized and keeping track of every detail. On the KITCO Fiber Optics team, you're a leading provider of fiber optic termination products and consulting services to the military and commercial communications industry. Whatever your fiber optics knowledge level today, we provide training, certification, and subject matter expert access to increase your technical and process knowledge for success. Recognized within the defense industry as fiber optic connectivity experts and, for over 20 years, have customized our products and services to meet strict military standards. Position Summary
We are seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Sales & Customer Service Representative to support Inside Sales operations and customer service initiatives. This role combines sales support, transaction data entry, contract analysis, supply chain coordination, and customer relationship management. The ideal candidate will be comfortable in a business environment, enjoy engaging with customers by phone and email, eager to learn KITCO products and how they are used, and at ease with database entry, queries, and have Microsoft Office skills. A working knowledge of fiber optic products, data analysis and government contracting would be a plus but can be learned.
Key Responsibilities
Sales & Customer Support
- Respond to RFQs and market leads via phone, email, government bidding sites, and online platforms
- Follow up on quotes and leads to drive revenue growth
- Process customer purchase orders, retail transactions, and contracts
- Read and analyze contracts and purchase orders to assess feasibility and compliance
- Manage open orders and maintain organized records for quotations, purchase orders, and acknowledgments
- Prepare and execute complex cost analyses and apply appropriate discounts
- Request quotes from outside vendors for non-inventory items and custom arrangements
- Support outside sales in developing new business and maintaining existing accounts
- Upsell products to existing and prospective customers to grow revenue
- Create accurate invoices and sales receipts
- Answer phone calls, greet customers, and build rapport
- Assist with scheduling deliveries and customer pickups
- Process return material requests and coordinate with quality and warehouse teams
- Review and resolve customer complaints efficiently
- Ensure overall customer satisfaction and coordinate quality issue resolution with manufacturing
- Perform other duties and tasks as assigned to support business
Supply Chain & Technical Support
- Respond to customer planning data in accordance with supplier inventory agreements
- Apply basic finance and accounting principles (credit terms, sales tax, source documents)
- Understand and research fiber optic products including cables, connectors, and tool kits
- Apply knowledge of assembly, fabrication, logistics, and manufacturing processes
- Stay current with industry trends through ongoing fiber optic training
- Maintain NAVSEA Terminate and Test Certification
- Cross-reference and value-engineer materials for customer projects
Skills & Qualifications
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access, Teams)
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including the ability to perform or eager to learn VLOOKUPs, pivot tables, and other data functions preferred
- Experience generating and analyzing sales reports to support data-driven decision-making preferred
- Experience with ERP systems such as Costpoint a bonus
- Familiarity with government platforms (EXOSTAR, , BidLink, etc.)
- Strong organizational and multitasking abilities
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Detail-oriented with strong data management and analytical skills
- Familiarity with ISO 9001:2015 standards or quality standards preferred
- Knowledge of basic government contract terms and conditions
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively across departments
- Experience in sales and or government business development a plus
Physical Requirements
- Ability to sit or stand for extended periods while working at a computer or desk
- Manual dexterity for typing, filing, and handling office equipment
- Occasional lifting of office supplies, files, or small packages up to 25 pounds
- Ability to move throughout office and warehouse environments as needed
- Visual acuity to read documents, spreadsheets, and computer screens
- May require occasional travel to customer sites, trade shows, or vendor locations
