Overview
We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Personal Care Assistant (PCA) to provide essential support and care to individuals in various settings, including assisted living facilities, group homes, and private residences. The ideal candidate will possess a genuine desire to improve the quality of life for others through attentive caregiving, patient observation, and personalized assistance. Responsibilities
- Assist clients with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs), including bathing, dressing, grooming, toileting, and mobility support.
- Monitor patients' vital signs and observe for any changes in health status, reporting concerns promptly to healthcare professionals.
- Support residents with medication administration following prescribed guidelines while maintaining compliance with HIPAA regulations to ensure confidentiality.
- Prepare nutritious meals tailored to individual dietary needs and preferences, ensuring food safety standards are met.
- Operate assistive devices such as Hoyer lifts and other mobility aids safely to facilitate transfers and prevent injury.
- Maintain a clean and safe environment by performing routine cleaning tasks and adhering to sanitation protocols.
- Document care activities accurately in accordance with care plans and regulatory requirements.
- Provide emotional support and companionship, fostering a positive environment that promotes dignity and independence.
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams including nurses, social workers, and therapists to develop and implement personalized care plans.
- Engage in ongoing training related to first aid, CPR, dementia care, autism support, hospice care, and other specialized areas as needed.
- Participate in resident activities that promote social engagement and mental stimulation.
Experience
Candidates should demonstrate prior experience working in environments such as assisted living facilities, nursing homes, or home & community care settings. Experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities, autism spectrum disorders, dementia (including Alzheimer's disease), or memory care is highly valued. Familiarity with patient observation techniques, medication administration procedures, and safety protocols like HIPAA compliance is essential. Prior roles involving caregiving for seniors or individuals requiring long-term care will be considered advantageous. Candidates must be comfortable performing physical tasks such as heavy lifting when necessary for resident safety or mobility assistance. Certification in first aid and CPR is preferred; however, training can be provided for qualified applicants committed to professional growth in caregiving practices.
