About The Role

As a DevOps Infrastructure Engineer at Zoom, you will play a pivotal role in designing, implementing, and maintaining high-availability infrastructure solutions that ensure continuous service uptime. Your primary focus will be on creating zero-downtime architectures and disaster recovery strategies across regional data centers. You will be actively involved in troubleshooting complex production issues, optimizing system performance, and collaborating with cross-functional teams including cloud vendors and security engineering. This role offers a unique opportunity to work with cutting-edge technologies such as Kubernetes, ELK stack, and large-scale distributed systems, providing ample growth prospects within a fast-paced, innovative environment. You will participate in an on-call rotation approximately every 8 to 9 weeks, supporting the stability and reliability of Zoom's global infrastructure.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field; Master's degree preferred
  • Minimum of 5+ years of experience in DevOps or Site Reliability Engineering roles
  • Deep expertise in Linux systems including RedHat, CentOS, and Ubuntu
  • Strong understanding of GitOps principles and experience with version control platforms such as GitHub or GitLab
  • Proficiency in scripting languages like Bash and Python
  • Extensive experience with AWS services including VPC, EC2, NLB/ALB, Elastic Search, Elastic Cache, DynamoDB, EKS, and S3
  • Hands-on experience with infrastructure automation tools such as Ansible and Jenkins
  • Knowledge of production deployment and troubleshooting for systems like Nginx and ETCD
  • Excellent analytical and troubleshooting skills coupled with strong communication abilities
  • Experience providing on-call support in a production environment
  • Familiarity with ELK stack, Kubernetes, and instant messaging protocols (XMPP) is advantageous

Responsibilities

  • Design and implement zero-downtime solutions to achieve 99.99% service availability
  • Develop and execute disaster recovery plans across multiple regional data centers
  • Troubleshoot complex production issues, including performance bottlenecks and functional failures
  • Collaborate with cloud vendors and internal engineering teams to ensure system security and high service availability
  • Conduct deep-level outage investigations and root cause analysis for backend systems and services
  • Implement and maintain CI/CD pipelines for seamless deployment and configuration management
  • Automate infrastructure provisioning, scaling, and monitoring processes to optimize operational efficiency
  • Participate in on-call rotations, providing timely support and incident resolution
  • Stay updated with emerging technologies and incorporate best practices into infrastructure design
