Responsibilities
- Assist dentists during a variety of treatment procedures, including general dentistry, prosthodontics, oral surgery, and endodontics, all while ensure patient comfort and safety.
- Prepare treatment rooms with sterilized instruments and materials, adhering strictly to aseptic techniques and infection control protocols.
- Take digital radiographs (X-rays), including 3D scans when applicable, to aid in accurate diagnosis and treatment planning.
- Manage patient records efficiently using Electronic Medical Records (EMR) systems such as Dentrix, ensuring all medical documentation complies with HIPAA regulations.
- Support patients by explaining procedures, answering questions about dental terminology, and assisting with medical history updates.
- Perform vital sign assessments and monitor patient well-being before, during, and after procedures.
- Operate dental equipment such as medical imaging devices and 3D scanners with precision and care.
- Maintain a clean and organized clinical environment following infection control standards and OSHA guidelines.
- Collaborate seamlessly with the dental team through four-handed dentistry techniques to optimize workflow and patient experience.
- Support administrative tasks such as scheduling appointments, managing medical records, and coordinating with the dental receptionist to ensure smooth operations.
Experience
- Prior experience working in a dental clinic setting is highly preferred; familiarity with general dentistry procedures is essential.
- Proficiency in dental assisting roles, including chairside assisting, taking X-rays, and managing medical documentation, is required.
- Knowledge of EMR systems like Dentrix is highly desirable; experience with Epic or similar platforms is a plus.
- Strong understanding of HIPAA regulations related to patient privacy and data security.
- Demonstrated knowledge of dental terminology, anatomy, infection control practices, and aseptic techniques.
- Ability to perform medical imaging accurately while maintaining patient comfort.
- Excellent communication skills for interacting effectively with patients of all ages and backgrounds.
