About the Opportunity:

The organization is seeking a Data Engineer to transform data into analysis-ready formats that empower candidates and internal teams to make data-driven decisions. The mission is to support independent candidates through AI-powered tools, contributing to a platform that aims to create a more representative democracy.

Responsibilities:


• Design, build, and maintain dbt data models for candidate tools and internal analytics.


• Develop and maintain data workflows and pipelines using Airflow for ETL and data automation.


• Collaborate with Data, Product, and Engineering teams to define key metrics, business logic, and ensure data accuracy.


• Oversee the lifecycle of analytics-ready datasets, from ingestion through transformation to documentation.


• Build and maintain testing, monitoring, and alerting systems to ensure data quality and pipeline reliability.


• Translate business questions into performant queries and datasets for reporting and experimentation.


• Maintain documentation and support data discoverability through definitions, testing, and lineage tracking.


• Collaborate in a lean, agile team using CI/CD and Kanban methodologies.


• Partner with stakeholders to develop trusted datasets for dashboards, ad hoc analysis, and experimentation.


• Report directly to the Chief Technology Officer.

Requirements:


• Fluent in SQL and experienced in writing modular, reusable dbt models for analytics workflows.


• 4+ years of relevant full-time work experience, ideally in a fast-paced startup environment.


• Interest and experience in AI, LLMs, and automation of tasks through AI.


• Skilled in stakeholder engagement and requirements gathering.


• Willingness to learn new skills and adapt in a fast-growing environment.


• Ability to work independently and collaboratively to solve problems in real-time.


• Bonus: Experience contributing to or leading metrics layer design.


• Bonus: Working knowledge of distributed computing with Pyspark on Databricks.


• Bonus: Experience in politics, activism, or democracy reform.

Compensation:


• The salary range is $110,000–$160,000 for this remote, full-time position with excellent benefits. This range reflects the range of possible compensation for this role at the time of this posting. The final pay may vary based on experience, skills, seniority, education, qualifications, certifications, and organizational needs. The organization reserves the right to modify this pay range at any time.
