Simple Motive Brewing Co. is an independent 7-barrel microbrewery located in Yonkers, NY. We focus on brewing balanced, creative beers with consistency and craftsmanship. As we continue to grow production and distribution, we're looking for a dedicated Brewer to join our team and help drive quality from grain to glass.

Position Summary

The Brewing Specialist is responsible for executing daily brewhouse, cellar, and packaging operations. You'll work closely with our Head Brewer and ownership team to produce high-quality beer, maintain a clean and efficient brewery, and support new product development.

Responsibilities

• Operate brewhouse systems including milling, mashing, lautering, boiling, and wort cooling
• Perform cellar operations: yeast management, dry hopping, transfers, carbonation, and tank CIP/SIP
• Package finished beer into kegs and cans
• Record accurate brewing and fermentation data
• Monitor fermentation, perform gravity readings, and assist with quality checks
• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment
• Participate in sensory evaluation and pilot recipe testing
• Assist with inventory, ingredient management, and occasional brewery events

Qualifications

• 1–3 years of professional brewing experience preferred
• Solid understanding of brewing processes, fermentation, and sanitation
• Strong mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills
• Ability to lift 55 lb grain bags and move full kegs (up to 165 lb)
• Comfortable working in hot, cold, and wet conditions
• Attention to detail, teamwork, and a strong work ethic
• Flexible schedule; occasional early mornings, evenings, or weekends required

Preferred Experience

• Formal brewing education or certifications (Siebel, UC Davis, etc.)
• Experience with cellar management, QA/QC, or water chemistry
• Forklift certification or equipment maintenance experience
• Passion for craft beer and local community
