Senior Project Manager

Full Circle Indigenous Planning + Design is a multi-disciplinary design firm that specializes in planning and building projects that honor and celebrate the cultures, histories, and values of Indigenous communities. We work with tribal nations, organizations, and allies across North America to create spaces and places that foster healing, resilience, and sovereignty.

As a Senior Project Manager, you will be responsible for leading and coordinating projects from inception to completion. This is a dynamic, fast-paced role that requires strong leadership, organizational skills, and an understanding of architecture, design, and planning processes. You will lead project teams, coordinate with clients and stakeholders, manage schedules and budgets, and ensure that all aspects of the project meet or exceed quality standards.

This is a full-time, in-person position at our Minneapolis office. This position requires the ability to travel up to 25%. The posting is open until filled.

Key Responsibilities

Firm Leadership

  • Combine creative leadership, project oversight, and business management in leading a team of project managers, architects, and other project staff, reporting to firm leadership about day-to-day operations, people, and performance.
  • Support marketing and operations, especially for architecture-related services.
  • Collaborate with firm leadership to define business goals and strategic direction.
  • Promote continuous improvement of project management methodologies and support professional development across project teams.
  • Foster a collaborative and inclusive team culture that supports business goals and staff well-being.

Project Leadership

  • Develop project scopes, work plans, and fees.
  • Assist in the preparation of contracts, negotiating terms, and ensuring that contractual obligations are met throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Oversee resource allocations and ensure that resources are employed effectively.
  • Lead the planning, executing, and finalizing of projects according to timelines and budgets, serving as the primary point of contact for clients and team members.
  • Monitor project progress and provide weekly updates to company leadership.
  • Manage and review project documentation, including contracts, drawings, and specifications, maintaining comprehensive project documentation, including meeting notes, status reports, and change orders.
  • Facilitate client presentations and meetings and coordinate meeting summaries and distribution of action items.
  • Accountable for compliance with building codes, regulations, and industry standards.
  • Perform site visits to confirm that project specifications and quality standards are met, coordinating with contractors, consultants, suppliers, and others as needed.
  • Proactively identify project risks and challenges and provide creative solutions to mitigate issues and ensure project success. Ability to address conflict with clarity, grace, and compassion.

People Leadership

  • Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, understanding their needs and delivering projects on time, within budget, and to the required quality standards.
  • Lead and coordinate internal project teams, including architects, designers, engineers, and other consultants, to maintain alignment with project goals and expectations.
  • Act as the primary point of contact for all project-related communications with clients, contractors, consultants, and other stakeholders.
  • Foster a culture of accountability and support by mentoring team members with empathy, patience, and clarity.
  • Monitor team performance and provide guidance in key project areas including scope definition, risk identification, resource planning, process methodology, and facilitation.
  • Provide technical quality reviews of architectural deliverables.

Qualifications

  • High emotional intelligence with strong leadership and collaboration skills that emphasize clarity, kindness, and empathy.
  • 10+ years of experience in architectural, or related design field, projects.
  • We support the architecture profession's movement toward an alternative path to licensure, therefore qualifications for this position are: an accredited degree in architecture, design, or related field; licensure; or equivalent professional experience.
  • Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite, Microsoft Office, and design software (e.g., AutoCAD, Revit, SketchUp, Bluebeam).
  • Expertise in building codes, standards, regulations, and best practices.
  • Strong design sensibility and written/oral communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and tasks simultaneously and meet deadlines.
  • Commitment to social equity, environmental justice, and community-building through design.
  • Experience in Native-led or BIPOC-serving organizations or projects a plus.
