Mental Health Tech

Job Summary:
This position provides safety, support, and direct care for forensic patients in a secure mental health treatment environment. The role involves monitoring patient behavior, ensuring safety on the unit, and supporting treatment and daily living needs.

Key Responsibilities:

• Monitor and maintain safety and security on the unit, including on-ward surveillance.
• Escort patients to meals, medical appointments, treatment programs, recreational activities, and other supervised off-ward locations.
• Observe and document patient behavior and progress; report unusual or concerning behavior.
• Intervene in crisis situations to prevent injury, including assisting with restraints or seclusion when necessary.
• Search patient rooms, clothing, and living areas to ensure a safe and contraband-free environment.
• Assist patients with daily living tasks such as hygiene, grooming, dressing, feeding, and laundry.
• Support treatment programming and encourage patient participation and independence.
• Serve meals, maintain clean living areas, and assist with general housekeeping duties.
• Complete required documentation such as progress notes, shift reports, and incident reports.
• Attend team meetings, staff training, and respond to emergencies on the unit.

Qualifications:

• High school diploma or GED (required).
• Ability to remain calm and professional in high-stress or crisis situations.
• Strong observation skills and ability to follow safety procedures.
• Willingness to work in a secure psychiatric environment.

Job Type: Contract

Pay: Up to $26.00 per hour

Expected hours: 40 per week
